DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position plays an important role in moving freight and supporting daily operations at the facility. It involves guiding inmate workers and ensuring work is completed safely and correctly. As a Corrections Equipment Operator, you will perform the following duties:
- Vehicle Operation: Operate tractor-trailers, trucks, and other vehicles as part of daily assignments
- Equipment Upkeep: Perform routine maintenance, safety checks, and minor repairs on vehicles and equipment
- Work Documentation: Complete and submit required receipts, logs, and reports according to policies and guidelines
- Inmate Oversight: Train and monitor inmate workers in safe and proper methods for loading, unloading, and repairing equipment
- Work Area Security: Safeguard tools and materials, maintain inventories, and search inmates and work areas for contraband

- Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
- Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in the operation of tractor-trailer trucks; or
- A combination of experience and training which affords the applicant the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
