DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will perform skilled maintenance and repair work on a wide variety of vehicles, including cars, trucks, tractors, and construction equipment such as rollers, sweepers, and mixers, along with powered hand tools. Your responsibilities will include repairing diesel-powered equipment, with the exception of diagnostics, parts rebuilding, and work involving air brake systems or diesel fuel injection systems. You will also carry out a comprehensive preventive maintenance program. This includes oil changes, basic automotive diagnostics, tune-ups, tire replacements, and repairs to engine sub-assemblies, cooling systems, suspension components, electrical systems, heating and air conditioning units, fuel systems, brakes, steering mechanisms, and driveline systems. Additionally, you will conduct official state safety and emissions inspections on vehicles within your licensing class, ensuring all repairs meet regulatory standards. This involves road-testing vehicles, issuing inspection stickers, and maintaining accurate State Inspection Records and related documentation. Your work on diesel equipment will include routine oil and filter changes, servicing components such as water pumps and gaskets, and performing repairs to electrical, cooling, suspension, and driveline systems.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Travel, overtime, and shift work required. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,841.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
- Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
- This position requires possession of a valid Class 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.
