If you are ready to join a company that truly cares about its employees, our members, and our community then you have come to the right place!
The Opportunity
Broadview is a federal credit union serving over 500,000 members across New York. We are building our first dedicated AI function from the ground up, and this role leads it. You will not inherit a team, a backlog, or someone else's roadmap. You will define the strategy, set the standards, hire the builders, and own the outcomes. You report to the CIO.
What You'll Own
AI Strategy & Governance
Define and execute the enterprise AI roadmap, aligned to credit union business objectives across lending, member services, risk, and operations. Establish the AI governance framework: model risk management, responsible AI principles, bias monitoring, and regulatory alignment (NCUA, CFPB, state AG expectations). Own vendor evaluation and architecture decisions for the AI stack. Current foundation: Anthropic Claude (enterprise-wide), Workato (automation/integration platform), AWS cloud infrastructure, with an evaluated path toward on-premise SLM deployment for high-volume, deterministic workloads. Serve as the executive voice of AI to senior leadership. Translate technical capability into business language.
Team Building & Leadership
Recruit and lead a high-performing AI team Build a culture of rapid prototyping, production discipline, and partnership with existing business and technology teams. Your team adds net-new capability-it does not displace existing staff. Assess and develop AI-adjacent growth paths for current data and analytics team members. Partner with, don't compete with, the existing data organization. Establish engineering standards: code review, testing, deployment pipelines, documentation, and security practices appropriate for a regulated financial institution.
Delivery & Impact
Identify and prioritize high-ROI AI use cases across the institution: intelligent document processing (mortgage, lending), member-facing conversational AI, back-office workflow automation, risk and fraud detection, and predictive analytics. Deliver the first production AI tools within 90 days. Partner with the Automation & Solutions Architect to turn existing pain points into automated workflows. Build the measurement framework: define what success looks like for every AI initiative before it launches, track it rigorously, and report outcomes to leadership in business terms.
What We're Looking For
Required:
Minimum 10 years of experience and 6+ years in technology leadership roles, with at least 3 years focused on AI/ML strategy and delivery in a production environment. Demonstrated experience building and leading AI or data science teams from early stage. You've hired, mentored, and retained technical talent. Hands-on fluency with modern LLM architectures, prompt engineering, RAG patterns, agentic workflows, and fine-tuning approaches. Experience deploying AI in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, government). You understand model risk management, explainability requirements, and the difference between a demo and a production system. Strong executive communication skills. You can present an AI governance framework to a board of directors and explain a model architecture to an engineer in the same day. Experience with cloud-native AI infrastructure (AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, or equivalent). Comfort with hybrid architectures including on-premise deployment for specific workloads.
Preferred:
Experience in financial services, particularly credit unions, community banks, or fintech. You understand lending workflows, regulatory examinations, and member-centric product thinking. Familiarity with Anthropic's Claude model family and API. Experience with iPaaS platforms like Workato for AI-augmented automation. Background in intelligent document processing, conversational AI, or fraud/risk modeling in financial services contexts. Graduate degree in computer science, AI/ML, data science, or related field. Relevant certifications (AWS ML Specialty, etc.) are a plus but not required. Experience presenting to or advising boards of directors on emerging technology strategy.
