Department:Upward BoundDepartment's Website: Summary of Job Duties:Academic Support*Provide structured tutorial assistance to all Upward Bound students in core academic subjects. *Assist students with assignments, study strategies, time management, and skill development. *Monitor academic progress and communicate concerns to program staff. *Reinforce college readiness skills and promote academic excellence. Mentorship & Student Development *Serve as a positive role model and mentor to all participants. *Promote leadership, integrity, accountability, and self-advocacy. *Encourage respectful communication and appropriate peer interactions. *Facilitate small-group discussions and character-development activities. Program Planning & Implementation *Assist in planning and implementing academic enrichment activities and evening programming. *Support leadership workshops, team-building exercises, and college readiness seminars. *Attend required staff meetings and training sessions. Residential Life & Supervision *Maintain a 24-hour residential commitment during assigned weeks. *Reside in the assigned residence hall from Sunday at 3:00 PM through Thursday at 5:00 PM each week for the full six-week program. *Serve as a Resident Assistant (RA) to ensure student safety, supervision, and well-being. *Conduct room checks, enforce curfew, and monitor residence hall activity. *Respond to emergencies in accordance with institutional policies. Trip & Activity Chaperone *Chaperone all program-related trips, college tours, and off-campus activities. *Maintain student supervision and accountability at all times. *Ensure compliance with travel and safety protocols. Behavior Management & Policy Enforcement *Enforce the Upward Bound Student Code of Conduct. *Document and report behavioral incidents in a timely and professional manner. *Maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards. *Model integrity, responsibility, and professionalism. Professional Accountability *ALWAYS be accountable for your actions and decisions. *Demonstrate professionalism in communication, attire, and conduct. *Maintain confidentiality of student information. *Devote full attention to assigned duties while on duty.
