Primary Purpose of Position
The Business Manager (Grants & Consortium Operations) provides comprehensive administrative, financial, and operational management for the HBCU Health Equity Data Consortium. This position is responsible for overseeing grant administration, managing sub-awards across partner institutions, and ensuring efficient back-office operations to support the Consortium's research and training mission.

The Business Manager serves as a key liaison between North Carolina A&T State University and Consortium partner institutions, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university policies while facilitating strong collaborative relationships. This role requires a high level of organizational, financial, and interpersonal expertise to support multi-institutional initiatives focused on advancing health equity.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The HBCU Health Equity Data Consortium is a multi-institutional collaborative aimed at advancing data-driven research, training, and workforce development to address health disparities. The Consortium brings together faculty, students, and community partners across historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to strengthen data infrastructure, enhance research capacity, and improve health outcomes in underserved communities.
Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in grants administration, financial management, or business operations in a university or research environment.


Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Public Administration (MPA), or related field.
  • Experience managing federal or state-funded grants (e.g., NIH, HRSA, NSF).
  • Experience with sub-award management across multiple institutions.
  • Familiarity with UNC System policies, PeopleAdmin, Banner, or similar enterprise systems.
  • Strong understanding of compliance, budgeting, and reporting requirements for sponsored programs.
  • Experience working in higher education or multi-institutional collaborations.
