Position Location
This position is based in Kunia and Wahiawa, HI and will require travel between both sites, may also include travel to Camp Smith.
Job Overview
Under the direction of the Facility Manager, the Custodian Supervisor will oversee custodial operations, ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment. The Custodian Supervisor is responsible for supervising the custodial staff, scheduling work assignments, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This position involves direct leadership of the custodial team, coordinating activities with other departments, and ensuring the effective operation of the facility.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
- Supervise and schedule custodial staff to ensure efficient completion of daily cleaning tasks, and any special cleaning projects.
- Provides leadership, training, motivation, performance evaluation, coaching, recognition and accountability for assigned employees and custodial team members.
- Establishes maintenance priorities that are linked to contract objectives for safety, customer satisfaction, and productivity. Such as, ensure cleanliness and maintenance standards are met in all areas of the facility, including restrooms, common areas, offices, and hallways.
- Conducts random inspections/review of work in progress. Ensuring procedures are being followed and the highest level of quality standards are met.
- Reviews completed site work to verify compliance in accordance with statement of work.
- Assign specific work tasks to custodial staff with clear instructions and expectations for completion.
- Ensure custodial supplies and equipment are well-maintained and stocked; monitor inventory levels and request supplies as needed.
- Coordinates all contract work with other Departments, Managers and Supervisors as required. Rotates personnel from one job site to another as required after coordination with Facility Manager.
- Respond to emergency cleaning and maintenance requests as needed and ensure that urgent situations are resolved promptly.
- Maintain records of cleaning schedules, supplies used, and work orders completed.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including the proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Provide guidance on proper cleaning techniques and safe work practices to all custodial staff.
- Ensure all personnel follow company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Advises Facility Manager of overall work operations and problems; coordinates training needs, recommends promotions, demotions, and commendations.
- Reviews, verifies, and processes departmental time sheets and submits them in a timely manner for review by the Facility Manager.
- Plans, organizes work, and meet all deadlines with minimal or no supervision.
- Maintains records of work performed and materials used.
- Performs various lower classified duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintaining warehouse space and telephone answering as required.
- Supports other department staff as needed or directed.
- Adheres to the established CISL safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Facility Manager or Project Manager.

- Keeping the Facility Manager appraised of unique situations and problems encountered.
- Timely and cost-effective performance of duties.
- Harmoniously working with other employees and customers.
- Working with the Facility Manager to outline work to be done and establish overall policy, after which incumbent is expected to work independently. Guidelines include those established by the Facility Manager, Project Manager, Corporate Office, Federal and State regulations.
- Personnel accountability and performance management to include personnel reviews, timesheet reviews, leave requests, counseling, coaching, disciplinary actions, and recognition for assigned staff members.
- Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices.
- Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- High School Graduate or equivalent GED.
- Five (5) years of experience janitorial maintenance related work.
- Two (2) years of experience in a leadership role or in supervisory capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate subordinates to attain stated objectives.
- Computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diverse situations.
- Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an intelligence community clearance.
- Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
- Valid state driver's license.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of OSHA/MOSHA regulations.
- Experience with CMMS.
- Knowledge and experience in Labor and Cost Tracking.
- Understanding of Government contracts, correspondence, reports and records.
- Good presentational skills and/or public speaking.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to perform organized workload with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to plan and organize work to meet required deadlines.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
