Job Description
THIS POSITION HAS NO DIRECT MANAGEMENT OR SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES POSITION SUMMARY The Facility Technician role ensures operational safety and equipment reliability by performing preventative maintenance, assisting with equipment installation/demolition, and maintaining site housekeeping. The position acts as a safety role model by documenting hazards in the GDC database, supporting continuous improvement, and collaborating with contractors to optimize production. KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Follows all company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance. Performs duties in a safe manner and reports all observed safety hazards to management. Acts as a role model for safety on shift. Participates in safety programs by reporting Unsafe Conditions, Unsafe Acts and Close Calls; enters Near Miss data and Observations into Global Data Center Database (GDC) 2. Regularly inspects and maintains production support equipment including but not limited to, Material Handling Systems, wire cutter, oil filling/recovery, conveyor and stretch wrapper. 3. Assists with assembly, installation, disassembly, and demolition of production equipment and building support equipment as required for upgrades or new installations 4. Maintains a neat and orderly work area; meets plant and department housekeeping standards. May be assigned additional responsibilities as needed 5. Accurately record/document detailed information regarding work performed 6. Works with contractors as needed for maintenance or project work 7. Maintains building and grounds 8. Participates in employee driven teams and continuous improvement projects to address scrap, quality, safety or other production related issues 9. Additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time; or the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES 1. Knowledge of specialized field gained through specialized training equivalent to one year of college or trade school or equivalent experience of four to five years preferred 2. In addition to the educational requirements, two to four years of experience in industrial and facility repair 3. Must be able to perform each essential duty adequately 4. Possess basic mechanical skills 5. Demonstrate ability to follow written and verbal instructions with little or no supervision 6. Ability to read mechanical drawings and documentation 7. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems and equipment 8. Able to sit to prepare reports and use computer equipment, walking to inspect facility including raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods and overall manufacturing and warehouse operations 9. Ability to work in high room temperatures and humidity. 10. Required to exert up to 60 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 40 pounds of force regularly; frequently will lift 30 pounds 11. Computer skills - experience with Microsoft Office and products desirable KEY BEHAVIORAL TRAITS FOR SUCCESS 1.
