A Taste of What You'll Do

This position will be primarily based onsite at Talbott Vineyards. As a Maintenance Technician 2 supporting our Central Coast winery operations, you'll play a critical role in keeping our equipment, facilities, and production systems running safely, efficiently, and reliably. Working under general supervision, you'll bring hands-on mechanical expertise to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide range of winery, production, and facility equipment that directly supports winemaking and bottling operations.

In this role, you'll respond to both planned maintenance activities and urgent repair needs, applying your technical knowledge to diagnose issues, replace or repair components, and return equipment to operational standards. You'll work with electrical systems, plumbing, piping, machining tools, pumps, drive systems, and specialized winery equipment, while also supporting preventative maintenance programs that reduce downtime and improve performance.

You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional partners and vendor contractors, ensuring work meets safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Safety is central to everything you do, from following shop practices and housekeeping standards to modeling safe behaviors and providing feedback to others. You'll also contribute to continuous improvement efforts, looking for better ways to work while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship and accountability.

What You'll Need

  • High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 4 years of maintenance experience working on equipment or industrial motors and pumps reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Associates degree or 2-year Technical Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Maintenance and Repair plus 3 years of maintenance experience working on equipment or industrial motors and pumps reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, production, industrial mechanical or automotive environment.
  • Required to complete and maintain certifications as assigned.
  • Depending on work location may be required to work a rotating shift/schedule throughout the year (day, swing, graveyard, 5x8, 4x10); required to work weekends and overtime when necessary.
  • Candidate is required to have a valid driver's license, a safe driving record and reliable vehicle (if applicable) at the time of hire. This position will undergo a motor vehicle check (MVR) to confirm a history of safe and responsible driving. If needed, candidate must obtain the appropriate state driver's license based on the position's location within 30 days of hire.
  • Required to conduct work at heights.
  • Required to lift and carry tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to work in a tight and confined space.
  • Required to provide own basic hand tools.
  • Experienced in reading and comprehending simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Experienced in writing simple correspondence and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical concepts.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Skilled in the use of MS Word, MS Outlook and MS Excel at a basic level.
  • Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

  • Industrial trade experience to include Refrigeration and HVAC.
  • Experience working in a food and beverage manufacturing facility.
