ODA Engineering Unit Member Advisor (EAR Regulatory Consultant)in GAC Savannah

THE ROLE

Part researcher, part teacher, part lawyer, part mentor, part technical expert, full time problem solver; an EAR Regulatory Consultant is a senior technical and regulatory advisory role within the Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) division of Gulfstream's Innovation, Engineering, and Flight (IEF) organization.

In this role, you will work directly with the FAA and the company's ODA Engineering Unit Members (EARs) to provide regulatory guidance and establish Methods of Compliance. Engagement with Industry working groups is also encouraged. You will be part of a small team with big responsibility and will have the opportunity to grow and build relationships company-wide and externally with your FAA counterparts.

REQUIREMENTS

> Experienced - with regulatory compliance to 14 CFR Part 25 either as a designee (DER, ODA UM or Administrator) or work experience within the FAA.

> Self-driven - excellent planning and organizational skills. A "go getter" who has the ability to research a regulatory topic deeply and thoroughly.

> Effective Communicator - excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills.

> Upstanding - ethical and conscientious in a manner that will reflect highly on the ODA. High degree of integrity.

> Cooperative - present a cooperative attitude and demonstrate tact and diplomacy when dealing with the FAA, ODA, Gulfstream, and the industry.

NOTE: This position is supporting the Engineering compliance functions of the company and is not a Quality-oriented position.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position requires being located in Savannah, GA. Shift is flexible to include 8hr shift Mon-Fri, 10hr shift Mon-Thurs, or 9hr shift Mon-Thurs + 4hrs Fri.

Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Aviation Sciences or related curriculum required. 15+ years certification experience or 20 years broad engineering experience. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters, 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job. Position Purpose: Provide oversight and specialized regulatory guidance for Engineering Unit Member: appointments, performance, regulatory compliance, procedures, program/unit member records, regulatory training, program/unit member audit functions, corrective actions, or a portion of these activities, as deemed appropriate by Gulfstream management.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions:
  1. Oversight of unit member appointments and performance, to include: establishment of unit member qualifications, review of unit member pre-appointment development plan and progress through the plan, ODA oversight and support of the unit member performance post-appointment and associated process improvements.
  2. Provide detailed regulatory compliance oversight and counsel to unit members. The position is consulted extensively by associates and others with a high degree of reliance placed on the incumbent regulatory interpretations of the approved means of compliance and all delegated regulatory authorities.
  3. Provide interface between the unit members, the Company (applicant) and the regulatory authority for complex compliance issues.
  4. Define and implement changes in ODA Procedures Manual, processes and organization, Industry standards and regulatory guidance when appropriate.
  5. Ability to act independently to conduct detailed regulatory compliance research, develop new innovative methods and/or procedures to complete complex assignments and champion new technologies for Gulfstream ODA processes.
  6. Provide leadership and regulatory oversight/direction for ODA required. audits.
Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements:
  1. Demonstrated experience, knowledge, ability and leadership to understand, interpret and communicate ODA procedures and Federal Aviation Regulations to subordinates, peers and senior management.
  2. Ability to lead interactions with FAA and Gulfstream personnel to establish trusting collaboration between Applicant, ODA and FAA.
  3. Capable of working within the various software applications utilized throughout the corporation, including Microsoft Office tools.
  4. Current or previous qualification as an FAA Designee, appropriate to the specific discipline, desired.
This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
