Position Title: Lab Assistant I
Work Location: 550 17th Ave, Ste 201, Seattle, WA
Assignment Duration: 3+ months
Work Schedule: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday

Position Summary:

The Lab Assistant I will work in a high-volume, production-based environment, performing essential functions that support clinical laboratory operations and contribute to accurate diagnostic outcomes.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and sort clinical laboratory specimens
  • Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
  • Perform data entry and/or scanning of specimen and patient information
  • Ensure proper functioning of lab equipment and perform minor maintenance
  • Troubleshoot specimen-related issues
  • Replenish laboratory supplies as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Complete record logs and administrative tasks as required
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for safety and quality
  • Handle pathology support tasks including:

    • Filing slides
    • Filing blocks
    • Distributing pathology slides




Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior experience in a medical, laboratory, or production environment preferred
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify and process specimens
  • Basic computer skills and data entry proficiency
  • Strong attention to detail with multitasking ability
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods
  • Must pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and quality control is a plus
  • Strong customer service skills


Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

  • Standing for the majority of the shift
  • High-volume, production-based pathology support environment
  • Color vision screening required


Additional Information:

  • Full-time role (8 hours/day, 40 hours/week)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination offered upon permanent conversion (optional based on titer/declination)
  • Requires strong organizational skills and accuracy in handling slides and blocks
