As a Cash Handling Clerk, you'll play an essential role in supporting our financial operations by ensuring the accurate handling, recording, and reporting of cash receipts and fee payments. What You'll Do:

  • Receive and process cash, checks, and fee payments while providing accurate receipts to customers
  • Record funds from multiple cash sources using cash count sheets and detailed registers
  • Balance daily cash activity by comparing receipts, payments, shortages, overages, and refunds
  • Prepare daily cash reports and documentation for accounting review
  • Assist accounting staff with cash receipt operations and error resolution
  • Maintain office cash change funds and support daily balancing activities
  • Prepare bank deposits and verify account balances
  • Audit transactions and prepare daily charge reports for submission
  • Perform related duties that support the overall cash management process

Minimum Qualifications
Education

Work requires knowledge of basic mathematical and clerical principles generally acquired through a high school education.


Experience

Work generally requires 6 months of experience in a related position to become familiar with the accepted clerical practices involved in receiving and paying cash, processing forms, counting money, preparing reports, and making deposits. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE


Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Work generally requires 6 months of experience in a related position to become familiar with the accepted clerical practices involved in receiving and paying cash, processing forms, counting money, preparing reports, and making deposits. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE


Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $18.00 to USD $22.84. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
