At the Y, our licensed childcare programs provide safe, nurturing environments where children build confidence, friendships, and lifelong skills. As a Substitute Teacher, you'll support our Early Learning Centers in Beverly, Gloucester, Salem, Marblehead, and Ipswich, stepping in where needed to ensure continuity of care and a positive experience for every child.

To qualify for the substitute teacher rate, candidates must be willing to travel to all listed locations.

This is a great opportunity for education students, retirees, or anyone with childcare experience looking for flexible, rewarding work.


What We're Looking For

  • No certification required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a licensed childcare program required
  • Passion for working with children and supporting their development
  • Ability to adapt quickly and step into different classrooms and age groups
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable and flexible schedule

Qualifications

  • Certification through the Massachusetts Department of Education and Care in Infant/Toddler or Preschool Education, or the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (NH) preferred but not required.
  • Reliable transportation and a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and step into new teaching environments as needed.
  • Flexibility to support various age groups and modify activities accordingly.
