The Tennessee State Museum is seeking a Capitol Visitor Services Manager who will oversee the daily operations, staffing, and strategic direction of visitor services and educational programming at the Tennessee State Capitol. Reporting to the Director of Education & Public Programs, this position leads a team of educators and volunteers to ensure exceptional customer service, efficient tour operations, and a welcoming experience for school groups, civic organizations, VIP delegations, and general visitors. The role also serves as a key liaison between the Tennessee State Museum, Capitol administrators, legislators, and other officials while coordinating group visits, maintaining visitation records, and supporting the development of educational content and program materials for the future Capitol Visitor Center. External or Internal Candidates. Essential Job Functions, Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Oversee daily operations of Capitol visitor services and tour programs. 2. Supervise, schedule, train, and evaluate educators and volunteers. 3. Maintain high standards of professionalism, dress, decorum, and interpretive excellence for all Capital tour staff. 4. Coordinate group visits, including school groups, VIPs, and government guests. 5. Collaborate with Capitol administrators, legislators, and Museum leadership to ensure seamless visitor experiences. 6. Maintain comprehensive visitation records and reporting systems. 7. Contribute to the development of field trip guides, civics workshops, and visitorcenter educational materials. 8. Anticipate operational needs, troubleshoot issues, and develop solutions to improve visitor services. 9. Support strategic planning and implementation for the forthcoming Capitol Visitor Center. Preferred Familiarity with educational best practices and state education standards. Experience working in a museum, historic site, or similar cultural institution.
