Summary: The position is responsible for supporting manufacturing readiness, ensuring processes, materials, and tooling meet customer and regulatory expectations, and helping to identify and mitigate risks during critical phases of program launch. The Global Launch Process Engineer contributes to process development, supports issue resolution, and collaborates cross-functionally to deliver successful product introductions. Key Responsibilities * Support manufacturing activities for assigned products through New Product Launch phases including prototype, pilot, and production ramp. * Partner with site teams to assess manufacturing readiness, with focus on process capability, materials, equipment, and production flow. * Help identify and mitigate risks impacting quality, yield, and throughput during NPI and early production. * Oversee and monitor implementation of customer documentation changes and internal change orders * Analyze first article build information, including root cause identification and corrective actions for manufacturing process issues. * Review and mentor/support product-level FMEAs (PFMEA) as required. * Review engineering design drawings and DFX reports prior to first article release. * Identify and evaluate manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment associated with new product launches. * Support internal and external corrective action plans related to New Product Launch. * Assist in resolving yield, quality, and throughput challenges during ramp. * Actively participate in new customer development and new business opportunities as needed. * Promote standard methodologies and share best practices across global sites to improve consistency and repeatability. * Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements. * Support global manufacturing operations, including travel and on-site engagement during critical build phases. * Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. * 10+ years of electronics or systems manufacturing experience. * Demonstrated experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and production ramp. * Experience in complex and/or regulated manufacturing environments. * Lean Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred. * Experience with FMEA, PFMEA, DPMO, FPY, DPM, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement tools. * Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies and applications. * Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Effective interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills. * Ability to work across global teams and influence without direct authority. * Demonstrates discretion, confidentiality, independent judgment, and professionalism. * Strong customer focus and ability to support internal and external stakeholders. * Working knowledge of productivity tools, including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project. * Ability to support a 24/7 global business operation and travel as required. Targeted Experience Areas 1) Process Engineer - PCB Assembly * Deep hands-on experience with printed circuit assembly (PCA/PCBA) manufacturing in high-volume or high-mix environments. * Strong knowledge of SMT processes including paste print, pick-and-place, reflow, inspection (AOI/X-ray), and through-hole assembly. * Working knowledge of IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001) and their practical application on the factory floor. * Experience driving process capability improvements, yield enhancement, and defect reduction (soldering, placement, component issues). * Experience supporting process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), line setup, and first article / early build execution. * Oversee and optimize advanced SMT processes including precision paste printing, high-speed pick-and-place, and multi-zone reflow profiling. * Identify and evaluate manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment associated with new SMT product launches. * Analyze first article build information, including root cause identification and corrective actions for soldering, placement, and component-level manufacturing issues. 2) Process Engineer - PCB Assembly & Test * Strong background in PCBA manufacturing combined with hands-on test engineering support (NPI through production ramp). * Experience with in-circuit test (ICT), functional test (FCT), boundary scan, and system-level test methodologies * Ability to define, develop, or optimize test strategy including coverage analysis, fault isolation, and test time reduction. * Experience with test fixture development and integration into manufacturing lines (mechanical/electrical/interface considerations). * Proven ability to debug complex board-level and system-level failures during NPI and production ramp. 3) Process Engineer - Industrial Engineering (Systems Manufacturing) * Experience in high-volume electromechanical or system-level manufacturing environments (assembly and integration focused). * Strong capability in line design, capacity modeling, labor planning, and production flow optimization. * Demonstrated experience using time studies, standard work, and value stream analysis to improve throughput and efficiency. * Experience identifying and driving cost reduction opportunities (labor content, mate-rial flow, cycle time, scrap/rework reduction). * Ability to support factory ramp planning, layout optimization, and scaling from prototype to sustained production volume. 4) Medical Product Excellence: * Ensure all manufacturing processes and documentation comply with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements, specifically ISO 13485. * Review and mentor site teams on product-level PFMEAs, ensuring risk mitigation strategies align with medical safety standards. * Oversee process validation activities, including the execution and documentation of IQ/OQ/PQ for medical-grade PCBA lines. Additional Information US FLSA Status: Exempt This role is part of a global team supporting program launches across Benchmark's manufacturing network, working in close partnership with site teams to strengthen readiness and execution for complex customer programs. Many factors are considered in compensation decisions, including but not limited to skills, certifications, licensures, experience, training, incumbent data, and other business needs.
