| Overview |
Reports to the Associate Director of Information Technology. Responsible for handling technical support functions for the various general purpose digital and synchronous learning classroom technology systems and assisting faculty with digital and synchronous learning classroom equipment operation. Provides support for specialized software/data and equipment installation, configuration, and planning by investigating and analyzing various specialized options and solutions. Researches, gathers, organizes, and summarizes data for reports. Analyzes data for trends and presents results and recommendations to supervisor. Seeks opportunities to integrate technology into academic activities, collaborating with faculty on incorporating specialized software and methods. Plans, designs, and conducts specialized end-user training for groups or individuals. Stays current in new developments and technologies. Conducts research on new technologies, as requested. Tests specialized software or equipment. Selects and recommends purchase of hardware and software for usage across RU-N. Assists in planning the implementation of new, specialized software releases, determines the impact of changes, recommends, and develops methods of facilitating end-user adjustment. Interacts with internal and external vendors to establish and maintain supportive relations. Designs and produces training aids, operation manuals, and other online support and equipment media. Performs other duties and completes special projects as assigned |

Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking an Instructional Technology Specialist. Reporting to the Manager of Academic Technology Services.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Handle technical support functions for the various general purpose digital and synchronous learning classroom technology systems and assisting faculty with digital and synchronous learning classroom equipment operation;
- Provide support for specialized software/data and equipment installation, configuration, and planning by investigating and analyzing various specialized options and solutions;
- Research, gather, organize, and summarize data for reports;
- Analyze data for trends and presents results and recommendations to supervisor;
- Seek opportunities to integrate technology into academic activities;
- Collaborate with faculty on incorporating specialized software and methods;
- Plan, design, and conduct specialized end-user training for groups or individuals;

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience.
- A minimum of two (2) years experience in the use of instructional technology to enhance teaching.

- Requires strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work with faculty and staff with diverse backgrounds and perspectives on the use of technology in a variety of learning environments.
- Able to meet tight deadlines, have attention to detail, and be able to independently problem solve and make timely decisions;
- Possess the ability to handle a wide variety of tasks simultaneously while remaining focused on details and calm under pressure;
- Demonstrate an ability for teamwork and collaboration;
- Able to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines, and administrators and staff in different offices;
- Provide training, support, and maintenance for digital and synchronous learning classrooms and videoconferencing equipment, including computers and related peripherals and video equipment, using various tools for automatic software installation and system configuration;
- Effectively demonstrate instructional applications of technologies; facilitates workshops; effectively communicates technical information to a non-technical audience; and establishes cooperative working relationships;
- Demonstrate a solid technical understanding of desktop computers, their operating systems, and networks as well as knowledge of emerging technologies.
