Description

Markon is seeking an Industrial Hygienist to support the Naval Nuclear Laboratory in developing and maintaining safe and reliable naval nuclear propulsion systems. This role involves conducting comprehensive industrial hygiene exposure assessments, performing field surveillances, and evaluating workplace hazards across site operations. The ideal candidate will apply professional judgment to assess exposure risks and support overall industrial hygiene efforts in a highly regulated environment.



Responsibilities

    Conduct and document industrial hygiene exposure assessments across site processes
  • Perform field surveillances and workforce interviews to evaluate potential hazards
  • Review established procedures and existing industrial hygiene data
  • Conduct industrial hygiene sampling and interpret results
  • Assess hazards including asbestos, silica, volatile organic compounds, welding fumes, and noise exposure
  • Perform noise dosimetry and area noise measurements
  • Calibrate and utilize industrial hygiene sampling equipment
  • Support general industrial hygiene activities across the site
  • Apply professional judgment in evaluating and documenting exposure risks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an industrial and nuclear facility environment


Qualifications

  • Must have active DOE L clearance or a DoD secret clearance to be considered.
  • At least 5-10 years of similar experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Science, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Experience with industrial hygiene sampling and calibration of equipment
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with ability to coordinate across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, including walking on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, and maintaining full mobility

Desired:

  • ABIH Certification (CIH) preferred
  • Experience in nuclear, heavy construction, chemical processing, or similar industrial environments
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with industrial hygiene exposure assessment processes
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene sampling techniques
  • Understanding of industrial safety and health requirements

Pay Scale:

  • 5-9 years of experience - $120,000-$127,000
  • 10+ years of experience - $128,000-$145,000


Salary Range

USD $120,000.00 - USD $145,000.00 /Yr.

The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
