The role

Our team in Weyauwega, WI is seeking to add a Cheddar Operator to their expanding production team on the overnight shift. The Cheddar Operator I is primarily responsible for safely and efficiently packaging and sealing our cheddar cheese into 640-pound boxes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up area for daily production.

  • Make boxes, fill, and then drain according to specifications.

  • Prepare boxes and place into vacuum chamber.

  • Operate vacuum chambers and record information according to specifications.

  • Pull boxes from vacuum chambers and hang on the rail for the specified time, then move to the seal line for final sealing.

  • Prepare box cards for sealed boxes per make (recipe), and place box of cheese into the pre-cooler.

  • Assist other Cheddar team members as needed.

  • Clean-up the 640 room after daily production and prepare supplies for the following day.

  • Keep your area clean and organized at all times.

  • Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.

  • Uphold and adhere to the standards of the Safety Protocols, including: stopping any observed unsafe acts and obeying facility safety rules and procedures; correcting or reporting any observed safety hazards; supporting safety policies and programs.

Profile sought

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • No direct experience necessary; in-house training is provided.

  • Prior manufacturing experience helpful, but not necessary.

  • Lift Truck License required: in-house training will be provided.

Skills required

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with managers and colleagues.

  • Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in work.

  • Basic computer operational skills; able to input and retrieve computerized information.

  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, adapt to a changing environment quickly, and think independently.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Follow one- or two-step verbal instructions; read and follow written instructions; perform routine and repetitive tasks and carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or verbal instructions.

  • Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and work to maintain constructive working relationships.
