Cable Locate Inspector Location: Bronx & Brooklyn, NY \| Client of TEKsystems Overview We are seeking an experienced Cable Locate Inspector to support underground facility protection surveys in the Bronx and Brooklyn boroughs of New York City. This is a critical support role focused on framing out the location of underground infrastructure to assist in the creation of engineering packages for city submission. This is not a traditional mark-out role - it is a specialized survey and planning function requiring deep familiarity with NYC's unique underground environment. What You'll Do * Conduct precise underground cable locates in complex NYC environments (Bronx and Brooklyn) * Support facility protection surveys by accurately framing out the location of underground infrastructure * Collaborate with internal teams and third-party vendors to gather necessary data * Work under the direction of program managers and Utility Analysts * Assist in preparing information for city bid packages, ensuring awareness of cable plant during city-led excavation projects * Operate cable locating equipment (tools provided) What You'll Need * Proven experience in cable locating specifically within New York City - Bronx and Brooklyn experience is required; experience in other regions will not be considered sufficient given the unique complexities of NYC infrastructure * Background in telecom, cable operations, underground facilities, cable vaults, or utilities * Ability to work independently and collaboratively under program direction Nice to Have * Construction management or general construction team experience - candidates with these additional capabilities may have opportunities for year-round engagement, as core locating work can be seasonal Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Bronx, NY. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
