DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Public Health Program Associate 1, you will learn and participate in the many ways state agencies collaborate on insurer and managed care reporting, enforcement, application reviews, investigations, quality assurance, and other processes. This is your chance to become a key part of how health coverage systems work while contributing to the success of important statewide services. With our team, you will perform the following duties:
- Application Review: Examine Utilization Review Entity and Independent Review Organization applications, then communicate with applicants to help them make changes needed to meet legal, regulatory, and procedural requirements
- Information Research: Collaborate with team members to research rules, policies, and records to answer questions and address application issues
- Policy Support: Assist in drafting policy, legislative proposals, and program guidance for bureau operations
- Inquiry Monitoring: Track incoming questions to identify trends and recommend areas where additional or revised guidance may be helpful
- Case Preparation: Learn how to build consumer appeal case files, present cases, participate in case reviews, and draft decision letters
- Data Support: Become familiar with data collection, baseline statistics, trends, and report processes to prepare summaries and recommendations for program managers regarding enrollment data, complaints and grievances, county level penetration rates, and other similar measures

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in health, social or behavioral sciences, statistics, or a related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
