THE OPPORTUNITY

Silvus is seeking an Accounting Analyst who will report to the Senior Accounting Manager on the Finance team. The successful individual in this role will ensure integrity and accuracy of the organization's financial records while driving continuous improvement across the accounting function. This position is responsible for the oversight and execution of complex accounting tasks, including but not limited to the full-cycle journal entry process, balance sheet reconciliations, and comprehensive fluctuation analysis. Additionally, the role plays a critical part in ensuring SOX compliance and serves as a key accounting resource for support with year-end audits and strategic ad hoc projects.

This role requires the consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment in the application of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting processes. The Accounting Analyst independently evaluates financial data, determines appropriate accounting treatment, and develops recommendations impacting financial reporting accuracy, internal controls, and operational efficiency.

This position is based at Silvus Technologies' headquarters in the heart of vibrant West Los Angeles, CA, and is on a hybrid schedule. A minimum of 3 days onsite per week is expected. On-site days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Close & Reporting

  • Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage the strategic close process, determining the materiality of adjustments and interpreting GAAP for complex transactions.

  • Journal Entry Management: Own the end-to-end journal entry lifecycle, including the identification of required entries, analysis and posting of accruals, and prepayments.

  • Variance Analysis: Perform complex balance sheet and P&L monthly fluctuation analyses to research, identify, explain, and report on financial trends or significant discrepancies.

Reconciliations & Integrity

  • Account Reconciliations: Perform balance sheet reconciliations to evaluate and approve the integrity of financial accounts.

  • Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate and rectify reconciling items by applying an understanding of core GAAP standards and root-cause analysis.

Compliance & Internal Controls

  • SOX Governance: Ensure compliance with SOX control environment and participate in quarterly SOX testing to verify the completeness and accuracy of project populations and financial data.

  • Audit Stewardship: Serve as a point of contact for year-end audits; prepare detailed support schedules and represent the company's accounting positions to external auditors and negotiate the resolution of audit findings.

Continuous Improvement & Strategy

  • Process Optimization: Proactively identify workflow bottlenecks and develop innovative procedures to increase reporting efficiency and data accuracy.

  • Ad Hoc Projects: Support the department head with strategic financial analysis and special projects as required by business needs. Perform other related duties of which the above are representative.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

  • 2-3+ years of experience in an accounting role at a corporation.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

  • Resourceful; can devise creative solutions to problems.

  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, or U.S. Permanent Resident) due to clients under U.S. federal contracts.

  • All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug test.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Current CPA license.

  • Familiarity with Oracle is a strong plus.

  • Experience at a publicly traded company or in external audit.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Office environment.

  • Lift up to 20 lbs.

COMPENSATION: $75,000 - $95,000 / annually
