Tactical Communications Specialist

Location: Panama City Beach, FL

Clearance: Active Secret clearance required. Top Secret preferred.

Program Support: TITAN, Edge Theater Architecture, and SURTASS

Keep the mission connected when the environment gets complicated.

Some communications work happens in perfect conditions. This is not that kind of work.

ISPA Technology is looking for a Tactical Communications Specialist to support TITAN, Edge Theater Architecture, and SURTASS efforts in Panama City Beach, Florida. These programs depend on secure, reliable, and resilient communications across tactical, maritime, theater, and joint mission environments.

We are looking for someone who understands that communications are not just cables, radios, circuits, and crypto. Communications are how data moves, how teams coordinate, how sensors connect to decision-makers, and how the mission keeps going when conditions are degraded.

This role is for someone who can work hands-on with communications systems, troubleshoot under pressure, and help keep mission networks available, secure, and ready.

What you will do

You will support the setup, operation, maintenance, integration, and troubleshooting of communications systems that enable tactical edge and maritime mission operations.

You will:

  • Install, configure, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain tactical communications systems, network equipment, radios, encryption devices, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Support communications planning and execution for systems tied to TITAN, Edge Theater Architecture, and SURTASS mission needs.
  • Work with secure voice, secure data, tactical networks, satellite communications, radio frequency systems, and IP-based communications.
  • Support crypto-related operations, including keying material handling, COMSEC procedures, controlled cryptographic item awareness, and secure communications practices.
  • Assist with loading, verifying, documenting, and safeguarding cryptographic material in accordance with applicable policies and local procedures.
  • Support integration of communications paths between sensors, mission applications, tactical edge nodes, command and control systems, and theater-level architectures.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues across radios, switches, routers, antennas, terminals, cabling, crypto devices, and end-user systems.
  • Support communications testing in lab, pier-side, field, exercise, and operational environments.
  • Maintain technical documentation, diagrams, configuration records, equipment inventories, and troubleshooting notes.
  • Coordinate with cyber, network, software, systems engineering, and Government stakeholders to keep communications systems secure and mission-ready.

What makes you a strong fit

You are practical, calm, and technically curious. You know how to trace a problem from the user's screen to the cable, the crypto device, the network path, the radio, or the antenna. You do not panic when the first answer does not work. You keep digging until the mission has a path forward.

Required qualifications:

  • Active Secret clearance or higher.
  • Experience supporting tactical communications, secure communications, SATCOM, radio systems, network communications, or mission communications systems.
  • Familiarity with COMSEC practices, crypto equipment, keying procedures, or controlled cryptographic item handling.
  • Ability to work on-site in Panama City Beach, FL.
  • Ability to troubleshoot communications issues across hardware, software, network, and user environments.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Willingness to support testing, integration, exercises, and mission events as needed.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Navy, Army, joint, maritime, ISR, C2, tactical edge, or acoustic surveillance systems.
  • Experience supporting SURTASS or other Navy maritime surveillance, undersea warfare, or fleet mission systems.
  • Experience with KG devices, KIV devices, TACLANE, STE, SKL, ANCD, NSA Type 1 encryption, or similar secure communications equipment.
  • Experience with Link 16, Link 22, TAK, Cursor-on-Target, tactical data networks, or other joint communications capabilities.
  • Experience with SATCOM terminals, HF, VHF, UHF, LOS/BLOS communications, antennas, routers, switches, firewalls, and transport networks.
  • Security+, Network+, CCNA, or similar certification.
  • COMSEC Custodian, Alternate COMSEC Custodian, Local Element, or related COMSEC experience.

Why ISPA

At ISPA, communications professionals are not just keeping systems online. They are helping connect the people, platforms, sensors, data, and decisions that the mission depends on. If you like work that is hands-on, meaningful, and never boring, this is a strong place to bring your skills.
