PURPOSE:
The Crude Supply Manager is a high-impact role responsible for the commercial and operational optimization of crude oil and dark oil supply across all Calumets refinery assets. This role is responsible for ensuring reliable, cost-effective, and specification-compliant feedstock delivery while driving margin through strategic sourcing, logistics optimization, and market engagement.
This position blends commercial marketing, supply optimization, and hands-on logistics execution. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in structuring supply agreements, managing supplier relationships, and executing complex logistics-particularly in waterborne (marine and barge) operations, which is a core focus of this role.
KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze crude and dark oil market fundamentals, differentials, and economics to develop feedstock supply strategies aligned to refinery configurations, yield performance, and margin objectives.
- Source, negotiate, and administer crude and dark oil supply agreements, managing commercial terms, pricing exposure, and supplier relationships while balancing longterm contracts with spot market flexibility.
- Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and inventory positions across pipeline, marine/barge, rail, and trucking networks to meet refinery run plans and minimize supply risk.
- Lead waterborne logistics activities, including marine and barge scheduling and coordination, optimizing dock utilization, terminal operations, and voyage economics.
- Track receipts, costs, and planversusactual variances, incorporating feedback into ongoing supply planning, logistics optimization, and risk mitigation decisions.
- Identify new supply opportunities, logistics pathways, and risk mitigation strategies to protect supply continuity and enhance feedstock value.
- Collaborate closely with trading, operations, legal, finance, and logistics counterparts to manage contractual commitments, operational constraints, and execution alignment.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Engineering, Economics, Energy, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience (10+ preferred) in crude/feedstock procurement, marketing, trading support, scheduling, or logistics coordination.
- Strong analytical and negotiation capability with handson experience coordinating multimodal logistics; waterborne (marine and barge) exposure preferred.
- Willingness to travel as required for supplier, terminal, and internal stakeholder engagement.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
- Experience with lease crude aggregation and field-level coordination
- Established network across crude supply and marine logistics markets
- Strong waterborne logistics experience (Gulf Coast preferred)
- Experience supporting multi-refinery systems
