Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-focused Configuration Management (CM) Manager to oversee configuration control activities across engineering, quality, and supply chain functions. This role is responsible for maintaining product configuration integrity throughout the product lifecycle by managing PLM workflows, Engineering Change processes, BOM structures, and document control activities.

The CM Manager will play a key role in supporting government program requirements, manufacturing documentation control, and change management governance. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of configuration management principles, hands-on experience with PLM/ERP systems, and the professionalism required to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely communication. This position will lead a small team of configuration management specific roles, assign work, monitor team performance and provide evaluations.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage configuration items, baselines, and change control activities in accordance with EIA649 Configuration Management standards.

  • Administer and support PLM systems, including workflows, Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), change orders, variances, and document releases.

  • Lead Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings for assigned programs, ensuring proper documentation, approvals, and recordkeeping.

  • Perform in-depth cross-references between drawings, BOMs, and supporting documents to identify inconsistencies or errors.

  • Support government program deliverables by preparing and submitting Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs).

  • Manage and transmit documentation packages to suppliers, contractors, and manufacturing partners.

  • Develop, optimize, and maintain PLM workflows to improve process efficiency and compliance.

  • Provide training to new hires and cross-functional teams on PLM tools, CM processes, and change management requirements.

  • Conduct Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs) and Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs).

  • Track and report metrics related to open change orders, workflow aging, and process health.

  • Ensure data integrity across PLM, ERP, and CM databases.

  • Manage CM team members to align them with the needs of the company.

  • Provide new ideas to improve the tools and workflows.

Tools & Systems Experience

  • PLM systems such as Agile, Oracle Agile PLM, Windchill, or similar.

  • ERP systems such as Oracle EBS Suite, Epicor, or comparable systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Systems, or related field-or equivalent work experience.

  • 5+ Years of Experience in a field related to this role, 1+ year of leadership experience

  • Strong knowledge of PLM systems, BOM structures, Engineering Change Management, and configuration control practices.

  • Understanding of EIA649 CM standards, including configuration items, baselines, ECR/ECP processes, variances, and change orders.

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational accuracy, and data consistency.

  • Ability to professionally deliver feedback and identify issues across documentation packages.

  • Be able to work in a cross functional team environment

  • Prepare for and lead audits from the configuration management group

Preferred Attributes

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify data or documentation inconsistencies quickly.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain CM requirements to technical and non-technical personnel.

  • Experience developing new workflows or improving existing PLM processes.

  • Proactive, process-oriented mindset with a passion for accuracy and continuous improvement.

May be required to maintain security clearance.

Expected Compensation: The expected compensation range for this role is

$142,896.00 - $178,568.00.

Please note this represents the expected range. Ultra Maritime considers multiple factors when determining final compensation, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, a candidate's relevant experience and education, certifications and training, as well as current business and market conditions.
