SUMMARY:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE: An extremely high level of analytical ability to apply post-surgical training to the treatment of patients. Good interpersonal skills to deal effectively with patients and nursing personnel. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. EXPERIENCE: Ideal candidates would have some critical care management experience, preferably in cardiac surgery, but highly qualified new graduates will be considered. Three to six months on-the-job training and experience to become familiar with job responsibilities and work routines will be required. All applicants should possess a high level of ability to function with significant clinical autonomy. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physician Assistants must be graduates of an accredited PA program with current NCCPA certification. Nurse Practitioners must be graduates of a Nurse Practitioner program and certified by the ANCC or by the AANP. Candidates should hold or be eligible for licensure in the state of Rhode Island as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, eligible for licensure for Federal DEA certificate. INDEPENDENT ACTION: Performs independently within the departments policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to the supervisor when clarification of the departmental policies and procedures are required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:None.
