Artist Curation Operations Lead

Contractor Opportunity

Summary

Our client is seeking an Artist Curation Operations Lead to drive the quality, accuracy, and scalability of artist catalog data powering artist pages, bios, images, concerts, and other artist-facing experiences across a large-scale digital media platform.

This role sits at the intersection of operations, vendor management, and emerging AI/ML technologies. The ideal candidate will act as a key liaison between operational workflows and technical teams building models, tools, and automation systems designed to scale artist curation processes.

You will help translate operational challenges into technical requirements, evaluate proposed solutions, and support the rollout of scalable systems that improve efficiency and quality across artist metadata operations. This is a 12-month hybrid contract opportunity based in Cupertino, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead artist curation operations across artist pages, bios, images, disambiguation workflows, and related artist metadata initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary operational contact and escalation point for vendor-supported curation teams.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Data Science, AI/ML, Product, Analytics, and Operations teams to align priorities and communicate operational needs.
  • Translate operational pain points into clear technical requirements and actionable workflows for engineering and data science partners.
  • Break down ambiguous artist metadata and entity-resolution challenges into prioritized workstreams and scalable solutions.
  • Evaluate AI/ML model outputs and participate in quality evaluation processes including golden datasets, error analysis, human feedback loops, and production readiness reviews.
  • Help design and improve tooling that presents AI-generated recommendations, confidence scoring, and suggested actions to human reviewers.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, ML-driven workflows, and operational improvements through impact and ROI analysis.
  • Develop executive-ready presentations, updates, and documentation for leadership stakeholders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify operational dependencies and ensure alignment across initiatives.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in operations, program management, technical product management, or related roles with exposure to AI/ML-driven workflows.
  • Experience translating operational or product challenges into technical and ML requirements.
  • Experience working directly with engineering and data science teams throughout development and implementation cycles.
  • Familiarity with model evaluation concepts including quality metrics, evaluation datasets, error analysis, and human-in-the-loop systems.
  • Experience designing or supporting review and annotation tooling for AI-assisted workflows.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including understanding of core analytics concepts and statistical measurement principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations and reporting.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, ambiguous initiatives independently and drive execution with minimal direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the music, media, entertainment, or digital content industries.
  • Familiarity with metadata management, entity resolution, catalog operations, or identity disambiguation workflows.
  • Exposure to LLM-based workflows, prompt evaluation, or automation systems.
  • Experience managing vendors or outsourced operational teams.
  • Experience working with international stakeholders or cross-functional global teams.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Tableau, or similar reporting and analytics tools.
  • Passion for music, digital media ecosystems, and artist-focused experiences.
