The Bid Specialist follows an organized process for managing responses to customer bid requests also known as Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Quotation (RFQ) and Request for Information (RFI). It is also responsible for owning the bid process for Key Accounts and supports Key Account Managers by leading the intake, internal communication, and compilation of bid information as well as the preparation of the response to the customer.

The primary objective is to grow business by engaging key internal partners.

What youll do

  • Track, aggregate, and analyze internal partner responses against the proposed bid strategy.
  • Prepare internal documents to supervise and review customer bids.
  • Prepare and review the final bid response prior to submission.
  • Orchestrate and lead all aspects of the bid response process to ensure customer timelines are met.
  • Identify and engage key internal stakeholders.
  • Provide administrative support for bid strategy meetings led by Key Account Managers.
  • Collect, document, and communicate customer feedback from bid results to build competitive intelligence for future bids.
  • Analyze bid opportunity and results data to prepare performance summaries.

What youll need

  • Bachelors degree preferred or the equivalent in related work experience.
  • 3+ years experience in chemical distribution with broad product familiarity and general knowledge of organizational functions (e.g. customer service, operations, procurement, sales, etc.) and specialty chemicals experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, prioritization, and time management skills with the capacity to handle diverse and significant requirements in fast paced and time-sensitive situations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to navigate Univar Solutions systems (Salesforce.com, SAP, Tableau, etc.).

Where youll work
This is a Hybrid oppotunity. Preference for candidates close to office location: Dublin, OH; The Woodlands, TX, Downers Grove, IL

Pay & benefits:

The salary range for this position is $58,000 -$87,000 USD. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's proven experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this role is eligible for incentive pay. Available employee benefits include health, vision, and dental. We also provide 401k matching for retirement and paid time off.
