Senior Program Manager, Infection Control, High Level Disinfection and Sterilization and Built Environment

Join Mass General Brigham in a highly visible, systemwide role where you'll help shape how we prevent infections and keep patients, staff, and communities safe across every care setting. As the Sr. Program Manager for Infection Control focused on High-Level Disinfection & Sterilization (HLD/S) and the Built Environment, you'll serve as a key subject matter expert driving best practices, supporting regulatory readiness, and influencing how care environments are designed, maintained, and improved.
This is a high-impact, enterprise role within Infection Control, responsible for advancing safe, standardized, and compliant practices related to medical device reprocessing and environmental infection prevention. You'll partner closely with clinical, operational, and facilities leaders across the system to integrate infection prevention into everything from daily operations to large-scale construction and renovation projects.
Reporting to the Director of Infection Control, you'll bring deep expertise, strong judgment, and a collaborative approach to navigating complex challenges while helping to build and sustain a culture of safety across MGB.

In partnership with the MGB Director of Infection Control, you will:
*Lead the implementation of systemwide infection prevention strategies, ensuring alignment with clinical, regulatory, and organizational priorities
*Serve as the go-to expert on:
oHigh-level disinfection, sterilization, and reusable medical device reprocessing across all care settings
oThe built environment, including facility planning and design, construction and renovation, water management, HVAC/airflow, and environment of care
*Provide expert guidance on regulatory standards, manufacturer recommendations, and best practices related to reprocessing and environmental infection prevention
*Support systemwide risk assessment, investigation, and mitigation efforts related to reprocessing deviations, environmental hazards, and potential exposure events
*Contribute to the development and ongoing evolution of Infection Control policies, standards, and governance structures as a key subject matter expert
*Partner cross-functionally with leaders in Central Sterile, Facilities, Real Estate, Engineering, Quality & Safety, Environmental Services, and Clinical Compliance to embed infection prevention into planning and operations
*Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen infection prevention practices across the system
*Ensure ongoing regulatory readiness and compliance across accreditation, licensure, and public health requirements
*Take on additional initiatives and priorities as the program continues to evolve

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study or equivalent years of experience required, Master's Degree Related Field of Study preferred

Experience

  • 8 - 10 years of program management experience required
  • 1-2 years of team leadership experience required
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required
  • Prior experience in a complex academic health center strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in a program management role in Infection Control strongly preferred.

Special Requirements

  • Must be available to work in the case of a facility-declared emergency.
  • Must be available to assist during regulatory agency reviews.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge and experience in:

  • Regulatory and other requirements related to Infection Prevention and Control
  • Advanced knowledge of infection prevention principles related to high level disinfection, sterilization, and reusable medical device reprocessing across acute, ambulatory, and procedural settings.
  • Advanced knowledge of built environment infection prevention, including design, construction and renovation activities, water management programs, HVAC/airflow systems, and environment of care considerations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver presentations to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Ability to effectively plan and facilitate meetings and workgroups.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and projects, meet deadlines, and manage to schedule.
