Visiting Assistant Professor Department of Urban & Regional Planning College of Fine & Applied Arts The Department of Urban and Regional Planning (urban.illinois.edu) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will teach four courses on environment, climate, and planning, across both the department's Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and Planning and Master of Urban Planning curriculum. Additional duties include: monitoring and mentoring teaching assistants, holding office hours to meet with students outside of class time, writing and grading examinations, and assigning grades, and departmental service. In 2013, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning celebrated one hundred years of planning education at Illinois and has an international reputation for training professional planners and developing future scholars. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is a land grant R1 institution. DURP is a unit of the College of Fine and Applied Arts, which provides opportunities for collaboration with scholars, practitioners, and artists, and which also provides opportunities for outreach and engagement via the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts and the Krannert Art Museum. Salary and Appointment Information This is a nine-month faculty appointment (paid over 12 months). The anticipated start date is August 16, 2026. The salary range for this position is $68,000 - $78,000. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate's experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. This position is eligible for sponsorship except for sponsorship of a new H-1B petition that would incur the $100,000 fee.
