Job Summary:

Bongards' Creameries is seeking a Human Resources Manager that can be a business partner, coach and leader to our Humboldt, TN cheese processing plant. This role will understand and translate business strategies to provide HR consulting on all business and performance needs and translate those needs into various HR areas, such as employee relations, talent acquisition and talent management, performance management, diversity and inclusion, and change management. This role reports to the Plant Manager with a secondary reporting relationship to Corporate VP of HR.

Job Duties:



  • Be a strategic facilitator by working directly with the Plant Leadership Team and anticipate opportunities to influence and lead change that will improve individual, team, and business performance to achieve desired business results.
  • Provide coaching to Plant Leadership Team
  • Recommend effective team member engagement practices throughout the organization leading to building a company culture that drives high talent engagement.
  • Navigate organizational needs and implement positive employee relation strategies within the day-to-day plant operations.
  • Build relationships of trust and respect. Has a clear point of view informed by own integrity and insights, business acumen, best practices, and industry trends.
  • Partner with Corporate HR Team on human capital efforts and align with company-wide HR initiatives.
  • Build a winning training and development culture by helping to develop, facilitate and administer company specific training sessions that support business needs and foster legal compliance.
  • Lead overall company talent acquisition by coaching and consulting on staffing needs and leading the process of identifying vacancies, recruiting, interviewing, and selecting high level talent. Advise and administer talent practices on site.
  • Plan, design and lead an effective onboarding program for new talent.
  • Partner with Plant Leadership Team on employee relations by assisting to address employee expectations, employee issues, deal with difficult employees, settle disputes, administer disciplinary procedures, and employee terminations. Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, and employee benefits.
  • Assist plant leadership team with project and change management and overall plant wide communications.
  • Partner with Corporate Purchasing to manage employee services, such as food vending and uniforms.
  • Ensure site HR practices are legally compliant and within company policies, practices and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned


Job Requirements:



  • Significant HR knowledge, including, but not limited to: staffing, union avoidance, change management, organizational development, compensation, benefits, employee relations, recruitment, talent planning, and general management practices.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication and organizational skills to effectively build and maintain relationships across multiple departments and a diverse employee base while demonstrating partnership and coordination.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products. Create and modify Excel and Word documents regularly. Working knowledge of core functions in Outlook (e-mail). Use of UKG system a plus.
  • Ability to assess issues, make quick, independent decisions, implement solutions and implement change.
  • Strong ability to be responsive and highly detail-orientated and analytical in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task with shifting priorities utilizing strong time management skills and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Professional presentation skills
  • Must possess a high level of integrity
  • 8+ years of general human resource experience, business management experience or a combination of both. Experience in manufacturing a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or Organizational Development or similar field.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification
  • Hours outside the normal 8am-5pm may be required as we are a 24 hours a day, 5 day per week (M-F) facility.
  • Minimal travel may be required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred


Working Conditions:



  • Office in a food manufacturing environment, some office setting
  • Extended periods of sitting, standing and working on a computer is required
  • Light lifting may be required, up to 25 lbs.
  • Willing to work occasional weekends or nights as necessary
  • Willing to work occasional evenings as business needs require
