Job Summary

The Lead Assembler I is responsible for assembling and fabricating transformer components, including welding aluminum and copper materials and connecting leads on primary and secondary coils. This role involves working with electrical components, interpreting technical drawings, and ensuring proper positioning and clearances for final assembly. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to perform both assembly and minor repair tasks in a manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Weld aluminum and copper components using MIG and TIG welding techniques
  • Position and shape leads to ensure proper clearances within transformer tanks
  • Assemble and connect primary and secondary leads, coils, and accessories
  • Install dual voltage switches, tap changers, and related components
  • Measure, cut, strip, insulate, and crimp leads and terminals to specifications
  • Fit and fabricate braces for leads, including layout and cutting
  • Perform minor coil repairs and fabrication rework as required
  • Interpret and work from blueprints and schematics
  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely and efficiently
  • Ensure all assemblies meet quality and engineering specifications
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment


Job Requirements



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Experience with MIG and TIG welding techniques
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Ability to perform precise measurements and fabrication tasks
  • Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes or willingness to be trained
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and follow safety protocols
  • Must be legally authorized to work without sponsorship


Education



  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical diploma in welding or related field preferred


Work Experience



  • Previous experience in electrical assembly or welding preferred
  • Experience working with AC/DC systems is a plus
