Summary
The Student Rights & Responsibilities Case Manager (CM) serves as a central point of coordination for students experiencing challenges impacting their academic experience, well-being, and ability to remain engaged in the college community. This role focuses on non-clinical case management, providing individualized support, resource navigation, and coordinated intervention for students of concern. The CM works collaboratively with campus partners to address student needs in alignment with campus procedures, mitigate barriers, and promote student success and retention. The CM also serves as a member of the hearing officer pool to adjudicate code of conduct and academic dishonesty violations and plays a role in the college's Title IX reporting and response procedures.
Essential Role Responsibilities
Non-clinical Case Management & Student Support

  • Serve as the primary case manager for the ASSIST Team (Behavioral Intervention Team).
  • Conduct non-clinical assessments of student needs, identifying barriers to success including personal, social, and situational challenges.
  • Develop individualized action plans that support students' educational/personal goals and persistence.
  • Provide ongoing case management, including regular follow-ups, progress monitoring, and adjustment of support strategies.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case documentation.


Crisis Response & Risk Management (Non-Clinical)

  • Respond to students in distress by providing immediate support, stabilization, and referral to appropriate services.
  • Assess risk factors related to student functioning and escalates concerns when necessary, in alignment with institutional protocols.
  • Support students during critical transitions (e.g., return from leave, academic disruption, housing instability).

Resource Navigation & Campus Partner Collaboration

  • Connect students to appropriate campus and community resources (e.g., academic advising, financial aid, housing support, accessibility services, basic needs resources).
  • Empower students to navigate college systems and build self-advocacy skills.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and departments to support student success through coordinated care.
  • Provide consultation to campus partners regarding student concerns, behavioral issues, and appropriate intervention strategies.

Outreach & Education

  • Contribute to office efforts to promote awareness of available support resources and early intervention strategies.
  • Develop and implement programs and materials that support student resilience and success.

Research & Reporting
* Produce reports and analysis regarding student behavior trends at the college.
* Remain current on best practices in behavior intervention, risk management, and student behavior practices
* In conjunction with the Director, review and draft policies and procedures.
* Support compliance efforts for county, state and federal regulations.
Other Duties
* Attend required office, division and campus meetings.
* Participate in professional development opportunities as appropriate.
* Promote and support functions and events sponsored by the office, the Division of Student Support and Development, and the college.
* Participate on committees and workgroups as appropriate and as requested by the Director.
Minimum Education Required Bachelor's degree
Experience Required
* Bachelors degree required, Masters degree preferred in Education, Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Conflict Management or a related field
* 1-3 years experience at the graduate or professional level in student development, student affairs or higher education
* Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 ( FERPA), Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX), Violence Against Women ( VAWA) Act, Campus Sexual Violence Elimination (SaVE) Act, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1974, specifically as they pertain to student conduct and sex discrimination required. Experience with several of these preferred.
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
* Knowledge of student development and issues that impact student behavior and college policy
* Demonstrated ability to access complex situations, render fair judgment, and maintain ethical and professional standards
* Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with college administrators, staff, faculty and students
* Ability to simultaneously plan, organize and coordinate multiple projects
* Ability to develop and implement assessment strategies and reports
* Proficiency in Microsoft office and ability to learn and use college software systems
* Performs all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
* 20 hours per week
* Must maintain regular office hours and work a minimum of four day per week
* Occasional night and weekend hours required
* Experience with or ability to learn strategies for effective student crisis intervention and developing crisis response strategies.
* Experience with or ability to learn strategies for supporting the needs of diverse student populations
* Experience with or ability to learn the case management system Maxient
* Experience with or ability to learn best practices in planning, executing and evaluating training and programs
* Experience with or ability to learn mediation, facilitation, conflict coaching, restorative justice or other conflict management techniques
* Experience with or ability to learn design software, recording technology, and other content management platforms
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required, Masters degree preferred in Education, Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Social Work, Conflict Management or a related field

Fast-paced, deadline-driven working environment. Concurrent management of numerous tasks, some with conflicting priorities. Periodic local and distance travel. Some evening and weekend hours required. Flexibility required. Regular attendance is a requirement for this position.
