Position summary:

An Apprentice Fitter Serviceman is an employee in a three-year training program which leads to classification as a Fitter Serviceman once training is completed. The purpose of the Fitter Serviceman position is to install and maintain natural gas distribution and utilization facilities.

Pay Range: $36.58 - $48.77 (Determined by the current Collective Bargaining Agreement)

Reporting Relationship: Supervisor of Gas Operations

Location: Cheyenne, Wyoming

Essential Functions:
* Install, re-route, repair and abandon pipe facilities used in the distribution system (PE, Steel and other).
* Operate company vehicles and heavy equipment such as street trucks, backhoe/loaders, trenchers and various power and hand tools.
* Perform leak surveys inside and outside buildings, and on the distribution system using various leak detection devices.
* Respond to emergency situations and call outs, as required.
* Complete all required compliance forms and OQ's, as required.
* Install, maintain and remove gas facilities (regulators, odorizers, metering etc).
* Perform gas meter turn ons/offs/relights.
* Provide a high-level of customer service to both internal and external customers.

Additional Responsibilities:
* Learn and observe safe working practices.
* Adhere to all Black Hills Energy safe work practices, including DOT safety regulations.
* Candidate must complete all required skills and associated tasks in order to complete the three step Apprenticeship.

What Is Required:
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* Minimum 2 years of maintenance, utility, service technician, installation, or related technical experience
* Class A CDL License with air brake and hazmat endorsement or have the ability to obtain one within the first six months of employment.
* Have the ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines at one time.
* Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids, and high-pressure systems.
* Ability to obtain and maintain knowledge of company policies and practices, Company Operations Procedures, Emergency Procedures, State and Federal Codes as they apply to the work, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
* Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
* High regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the public.
* Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required job schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
* Strong communication and customer service skills.
* Ability to respond in all types of weather conditions.
* This position requires driving responsibilities. You must hold and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company and insurer standards.
* This role will be required to travel up to 10% of the time.

* Documented Operator Qualifications
* Ability to work from job related blueprints, sketches, and diagrams.
* Knowledge of basic properties of steel and plastic pipeline materials.
