Maintenance Manager

General Purpose:

Manage and lead the maintenance department to ensure reliable operation of plant equipment and facilities. Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Oversee inventory, procurement, and maintenance systems to support efficient operations. Promote safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement while directing personnel activities such as training, scheduling, and performance management.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Manage the maintenance department to maintain all plant equipment and facilities in safe, efficient operating condition
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
  • Direct and train maintenance staff to build a skilled, efficient team capable of meeting operational goals
  • Work closely with maintenance staff to continuously improve programs by editing tasks and frequencies
  • Coordinate maintenance projects and repairs with internal departments and external contractors to support production needs
  • Analyze equipment performance and recommend modifications or replacements to improve reliability and reduce costs
  • Maintain an up-to-date library of machine manuals, prints, and schematics for reference and compliance
  • Manage SAP or applicable system for maintenance operations, including setting up entities, vendors, and equipment, and updating tasks for work orders
  • Manage and coordinate work order backlog to establish execution schedules based on production and maintenance requirements and available resources to minimize planned downtime activities
  • Oversee inventory of spare parts and supplies, sourcing parts according to quality and pricing to achieve cost-effective solutions
  • Create purchase orders to procure parts and production supplies, including price negotiation and purchase processes
  • Receive and stock incoming parts and update SAP records to maintain accurate inventory
  • Prepare maintenance financial, statistical, and technical reports, including equipment history and open order updates
  • Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
  • Promote and enforce safety standards and regulatory compliance throughout maintenance operations

Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 5 to 8 years of maintenance, mechanical engineering, or related experience, including demonstrated leadership and supervisory responsibilities
  • 1+ year of managerial experience preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing operations or production; dairy industry experience preferred


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Strong knowledge of facility equipment and maintenance processes
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite and maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as blueprints, schematics, and work orders
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, plan projects, and manage multiple deadlines
  • Ability to lead and instruct others on proper and safe procedures
  • Ability to adapt to changing operational needs and lead others through change
  • Ability to coach, develop, and retain a high-performing team
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
