Job Summary and Responsibilities

Acentra Health is looking for a Project Director to join our growing team.

Job Summary:

The Project Director leads and oversees enterprise-wide project delivery for complex healthcare and technology initiatives. This role is responsible for the management and performance of Project Managers and Schedulers within the PMO, ensuring adherence to project management standards, alignment with strategic goals, and successful execution of initiatives. The Project Director serves as a strategic partner to business and technology leaders and plays a key role in advancing delivery excellence, governance, and transformation outcomes across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly manages the enterprise project delivery organization, including PMO Managers, Project Managers (all levels), and Project Schedulers.
  • Defines, develops, and enforces project delivery frameworks, methodologies, tools, and best practices across the PMO to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Oversees execution of the project and program portfolio, ensuring initiatives align with enterprise strategy, business priorities, and regulatory/compliance requirements.
  • Provides executive-level reporting, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership on portfolio health, risks, opportunities, and resource needs.
  • Coaches and mentors PMO leadership and senior staff; leads performance management, succession planning, and career development to strengthen the project management pipeline.
  • Facilitates enterprise-level resource planning, project prioritization, and capacity alignment to optimize workforce utilization.
  • Monitors financial performance across the project portfolio; partners with finance and executives to manage budgets, forecasts, and ROI of major initiatives.
  • Drives continuous improvement of delivery processes, KPIs, and governance standards, advancing the maturity and credibility of the PMO.
  • Sponsors and, when necessary, leads complex, cross-functional, or high-priority programs critical to organizational success.
  • Collaborates with internal business and technology executives to resolve escalations, address systemic risks, and ensure delivery success.
  • Partners with business leaders to translate strategic goals into executable initiatives, ensuring projects contribute to enterprise transformation and growth.
  • Champions change management and adoption of new delivery practices, tools, and cultural shifts that support enterprise agility.
  • Serves as a strategic partner to senior leadership, influencing investment decisions and ensuring delivery outcomes support operational excellence and long-term business objectives.
  • Read, understand, and adhere to all corporate policies, including policies related to HIPAA and its Privacy and Security Rules.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 10+ years of progressive project management experience, with at least 5+ years managing project teams.
  • PMP certification required (may be waived with at least 10 years of project management and at least 5 years of people management experience).
  • Experience working with Global teams, and setting up PMO teams in other global locations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred (Business, Healthcare, IT, or related field).
  • Deep understanding of healthcare delivery systems, government contracts, and Medicaid/Medicare programs preferred.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams and developing talent.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and executive reporting capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive standardization, process improvement, and delivery excellence.
  • Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project management methodologies.
  • High emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, matrixed environments with minimal supervision.

Experience in Lieu of Degree

For non-clinical roles, or when not required by the contract specifically, the Company acknowledges that practical, hands-on experience can provide skills and competencies equivalent to formal education. As such, in cases where a Bachelor's degree may be required, the Company will accept a minimum of six (6) years of directly relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree. In instances where the candidate has an Associate's degree, the Company will accept a minimum of three (3) years of directly relevant professional experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree.

Pay Range

USD $134,800.00 - USD $168,500.00 /Yr.
