Senior Applications Engineer - Mechanical

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

  • Serve as the technical lead for product engineering projects including product line extensions, sustaining engineering, feasibility studies, prototype builds, customer informed iterations, validation testing, and agency certification,

  • Develop new designs based on existing product to accommodate unique customer needs and evolving applications in the power connections industry.

  • Optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM), cost reduction, supply chain risk mitigation, and industry driven changes.

  • Develop complete and accurate material, component, and product specifications, ensuring alignment with quality standards and supporting the creation of robust quality assurance procedures.

  • Plan, execute, and refine engineering tasks by translating product targets into technical requirements, defining clear milestones, and maintaining a prioritized engineering backlog that supports product engineering initiatives.

  • Validate mechanical designs through rigorous testing, iterative prototyping, performance evaluations and coordination of third party compliance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, quality, sourcing, product development (NPI), product management and sales to support launch readiness

  • Maintain accountability for engineering deliverables within project management process, including Sustaining and New Product Introduction processes.

  • Provide technical leadership in design reviews, FMEAs, and structured risk mitigation efforts, ensuring robust engineering decisions and early identification of technical risk

  • Serve as a subject matter expert to both internal and external customers. Provide support and troubleshooting to customers both on-site and virtually in the use of nVent ILSCO and nVent UTILCO products.

  • Up to 10-20% of domestic travel as needed.

YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering required

  • Ideally 5 Years of related experience

  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills

  • Proficient in SolidWorks assemblies, modeling, drawings, and PDM/PLM systems

  • Strong understanding of metals, polymers, and composite materials, with hands on experience in metal forming, machining, and injection molding.
