The National Director of Digital Assets is responsible for all digital asset assurance matters including accounting, auditing, and risk management. This partner position has ownership of the Firm's digital assets audit guidance, templates, tools and training. Responsibilities of this position also include supporting the National Office of Risk Management in all digital asset related inspection matters, including PCAOB, peer review, and internal inspections. Finally, this position has oversight of client acceptance and continuance of assurance engagements for a variety of digital asset entities including across the audit practice.

Quality (a responsibility that is pervasive through all responsibilities)

  • Work with the Chief Auditor, and audit and accounting policy teams as it relates to changes in work products, tools, templates and processes that will improve efficiencies and effectiveness of the audit.

  • Drive the process to develop, support and maintain the Firm's audit and attest services methodology and related guidance with timely delivery to the field for implementation.

  • Work closely with the National Office of Risk Management on internal, peer review and PCAOB inspections and written responses as applicable. This includes participation in on-site inspections as well as providing assistance to engagement teams in the remediation process.

Risk Management

  • Provide support to the Assurance practice related to client acceptance considerations for digital asset audits.

  • Review and concur on digital asset client acceptance and continuance decisions as may be required by our risk management policies.

  • Assist engagement leaders with regulator examinations and inquiries, including SEC, state and federal regulators, and other regulatory bodies.

  • Assist various Client Acceptance and Reevaluation Committees as a participant and advisor to the committees and/or committee chairs.

  • Liaise with firm leadership on people resources - pipeline, capacity assessments, how to bring new people into industry, etc. to enhance capacity within the digital asset industry.

Continuing Professional Education

  • Oversee the curriculum plan for digital asset education across the assurance practice.

  • Oversee and participate in the development and delivery of digital asset courses including training for auditors at the staff through partner levels.

  • Participate in the development and delivery of non-technical digital asset training at the request firm leadership.

Client Service

  • Consult with partners and engagement teams as requested on complex digital asset related audit, accounting, and regulatory-related matters.

  • Meet with key clients and prospects as necessary to assist engagement teams and deliver expertise.

  • Perform industry-related consultations on a timely basis.

  • May participate in audit engagements as an engagement quality reviewer.

  • Conduct webcasts for clients and prospects as needed, including development and delivery.

Outreach and Thought Leadership

  • Monitor and provide counsel regarding emerging industry-related audit and accounting issues and prepare appropriate communications, tools, and guidance on the subject matter for publication in Insights, Investment Industry Insights, or other forms of delivery (internal and external). This position also is involved in the comment letter process as applicable for proposed standards that could or would affect the entities operating with digital assets.

  • Represent or support the firm in professional organizations at a national level, such as AICPA Expert Panels or other committees.

  • Develop, deliver and/or facilitate training on various technical topics both internally and externally focused

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Certified Public Accountant

  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and statutory accounting standards affecting entities operating in or with digital assets

  • Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted U.S. and PCAOB Auditing Standards

  • Minimum of three years' experience as a partner or equivalent role in an industry with digital asset exposure

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in the assurance practice of a national CPA firm

  • Minimum of five years' experience in managing others

  • Must exhibit an exceptional client service attitude, possess outstanding people skills and take a proactive approach in working with employees

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to communicate motivationally and deliver tough messages

  • Demonstrated excellent coordination, organizational planning and analytical skills

  • Takes ownership of results

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/assignments simultaneously
