The Ops Emerging Technology Developer will research, plan, lead, develop, and implement solutions related to operational process efficiency, automation, and simplification through the use of emerging technology in support of FedEx Office Operations. This role provides technical system development, hands-on solution prototyping and configuration, tactical support within the business, as well as strategy and oversight for emerging technology such as automation platforms, low-code solutions (e.g. Quickbase), AI-enabled capabilities, RPA, and other technologies as needed. The Ops Emerging Technology Developer provides proactive direction, operational expertise and consultation with various stakeholders, including but not limited to third party vendors, departments through the Federal Express enterprise, and serve as a key liaison between Operations and technology partners to translate business use cases into practical, working solutions. This is a hybrid position located inPlano, TX. Candidates must live within 50 miles of the campus location. Employees will be required to work at the FedEx campus location several times per week. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (This is a representative list of the general duties the position may be asked to perform, and is not intended to be all-inclusive)
Leads the end-to-end delivery of business-driven technology solutions, from initial concept through to implementation and user adoption. Designs, develops, and deploys AI-enabled and rules-based solutions, including Machine Learning models, to address complex business and operational challenges. Directs the hands-on technical development and maintenance of business applications and workflows, with a focus on emerging technology platforms as well as low-code platforms like Quickbase. Researches, evaluates, and experiments with emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and practical application within operations. Manages process improvement projects to define future-state processes, simplify workflows, and identify automation opportunities. Prioritizes and sequences development requirements and requests from business partners, internal users, and vendors across all related projects. Collaborates with business partners and third-party vendors to develop solutions that improve customer experience and operational efficiency. Defines project scope, goals, and deliverables, and is responsible for monitoring and controlling project and vendor support budgets. Prepares and delivers executive-level presentations, using data to communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership. Effectively uses metrics to track project progress, identify issues, and drive data-informed decisions and improvements. All other duties as needed or required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of handson experience developing business or operational technology solutions, including automation, lowcode, or applied analytics solutions
- Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python) sufficient to build and extend business solutions and automations
- Experience with AI/ML or AIenabled solutions, frameworks, or services (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikitlearn, or cloudbased AI platforms)
- Experience with MS Office (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook)
- Extensive experience with AI/ML, Quickbase and/or RPA required
- Demonstrated business acumen and strong financial acumen
- Demonstrated success in transformational program execution or major system upgrades
- Ability to manage external Vendors and 3rd parties
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams required
- Ability to work in a time-sensitive environment, can make decisions when faced with minimal or contradictory data and can communicate across different audience levels
