THE POSITION

As a limited-term Editor 1 with the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), you will play a key role in producing clean, polished, and visually appealing materials. You will have the exciting opportunity to support ongoing projects and help bring clarity and creativity to written and graphic content. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the production of written and visual materials that help the agency share accurate and consistent information. You will work with design tools, edit documents, and assist with publication planning. As an Editor 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Publication Support: Help manage annual and ongoing publication needs to ensure materials are completed on schedule
  • Document Editing: Edit text for grammar, style, and clarity while assisting with formatting and layout tasks
  • Graphic Creation: Develop illustrations, logos, layouts, and photos using approved graphic design tools
  • Design Strategy: Apply visual elements such as color, scale, and typography to create clear and effective designs
  • Project Assistance: Support the Office of Communications with assigned tasks and design-related responsibilities

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Limited-term employment; 6-month assignment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,971.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in editorial work which has included writing, editing, and use of photography and graphics in publication, and a bachelor's degree with major course work in English, journalism or communication; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must have at least five years of experience with the following programs: QuarkXPress; Adobe InDesign; Adobe Illustrator; WordPress, and SharePoint.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • At least three years of experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
