Job Summary

The Facilities Space Analyst supports Dallas College's mission by leveraging Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and AutoCAD (CAD) to analyze, map, and optimize the use of campus facilities and land assets. This role integrates spatial data, indoor mapping, building information models (BIM), and space utilization metrics to enhance strategic planning, capital project development, scheduling, sustainability initiatives, and reporting across multiple campuses. The analyst ensures accurate digital representations of buildings and site features, maintains space inventory and classification standards, and provides data-driven insights that improve operational efficiency, space allocation, and longterm facilities planning.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update GIS databases for campus buildings, rooms, land parcels, utilities, and infrastructure.
  • Create, manage, and validate indoor GIS datasets, including floor plans, room attributes, space classifications, and occupancy information.
  • Ensure spatial data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with Dallas College standards and industry best practices.
  • Integrate CAD/BIM files (AutoCAD, Revit) and space management systems with GIS platforms such as Esri ArcGIS.
  • Analyze space utilization, capacity, and allocation to support instructional, administrative, and operational planning.
  • Collect, digitize, and interpret spatial and facilities data to support planning and reporting needs.
  • Support space planning, renovations, and capital projects through analysis, mapping, and data visualization.
  • Develop dashboards, floor plans, and/or reports for executive leadership, facilities committees, and campus stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Facilities, Planning, Construction, IT, Academic Affairs, and campus staff to gather, verify, and maintain accurate space data.
  • Maintain and update drawing libraries and space inventories in accordance with Dallas College Facilities standards.
  • Review, track, and archive drawings and documentation submitted by external consultants.
  • Manage campus space information systems and support longrange space planning initiatives.
  • Compile and analyze spatial and facilities data models to inform decisionmaking.
  • Assess and monitor space assignments and utilization across all campuses.
  • Required Dallas College Professional Development Hours per Academic Year.
  • All employees are required to complete a minimum of 19 hours.
  • People leaders are required an additional 16 hours of leadership development.
  • Perform other duties not listed as assigned.

Minimum and Preferred - Education, Experience, and/or Certifications

Required Qualifications for Role (necessary or mandatory)

  • Certificate in GIS or AutoCAD Drafting or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year experience
  • Official transcripts are required
  • Must have current and valid driver's license required for off-site travel
  • Ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure of Dallas College.

Other Preferred Qualifications for Role (not mandatory, but advantageous)

  • Associates or higher degree in GIS or related field.
  • Experience in a college or university facilities environment.
  • Experience developing GIS dashboards or web mapping applications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required Qualifications for Role (necessary or mandatory)

  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College.
  • Proficiency in Esri ArcGIS Pro -and/or-Proficiency in CAD
  • Experience with spatial data editing, geodatabases, and map production.
  • Ability to translate technical GIS and spatial data into clear visuals and explanations for nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to use, interpret, and analyze LiDAR data and LiDARderived products to support spatial analysis, facility planning, and campus mapping initiatives.
  • Ability to provide exemplary customer service.
  • Maintains high ethical standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to change easily

Other Preferred Qualifications for Role (not mandatory, but advantageous)

  • Advanced Excel or data visualization skills (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of building codes and ADA requirements,
  • Experience in REVIT
  • Experience in ArcGIS Indoors
