Job Description

What is the opportunity?

Assist RBC Wealth Management-U.S. (WM-US) Investment Banking Solutions team members to create a seamless Financial Advisor (FA) client experience when looking to access and implement investment banking products and services. The Associate will work closely with field leadership, service and support areas within RBC's Private Client Group to ensure a coordinated effort for investment banking opportunities originated within RBCWM.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate with the Investment Banking Solutions team members to create a first-class field experience through preparing education and marketing materials, running and analyzing reports, and managing metrics for management.
  • Support Financial Advisors (FA) and clients through the origination and servicing process when utilizing Investment Banking Solutions
  • Product and Platform Enhancement - Gather feedback from the field and team members on enhancements to the platform and service model to improve efficiencies and create a better client-advisor experience
  • Design and publish a quarterly newsletter about Investment Banking Solutions
  • Weekly recaps of IB Solutions travel, meetings, bake-offs, mandates, etc...
  • Analysis of who attended meetings and events (by Complex, by Branch, by Level) and provide follow-up
  • Maintain a tracker for cross referencing during branches visits
  • Maintain and update INFONET content
  • Create and maintain additional marketing materials and pitchbooks
  • Build relationships with other WM groups (wealth consultants, wealth strategists, etc)
  • Continuously promote the IB Solutions brand internally
  • Create ad hoc reports that summarize our progress and identify opportunities for growth
  • Business Reporting - work with Private Bankers to properly report progress of business plans to WM-US executive and field leadership.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 4 year degree from accredited university in Finance, Accounting, Business or equivalent and related experience
  • 3+ years of experience at a wealth management firm or investment bank
  • Proven dedication to and focus on client service
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including being able to discuss capabilities in a small group setting
  • Strong ability to ask critical questions, anticipate problems/future needs, and take ownership
  • Familiar with computer applications such as MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Developing understanding of all investment banking products including M&A, equity, debt, and convertible securities
  • Demonstrated experience in a client-facing service role
  • Demonstrated interpersonal effectiveness of working with a diverse set of departments across an organization
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing business environments and adjust strategic plan, if necessary

Nice-to-have

  • Demonstrated experience supporting financial advisors and/or investment bankers
  • Demonstrated experience working with different functional groups at a wealth management or investment banking firm
  • Series 7 and 66 (or ability to attain in 120 days)

The expected salary range for this particular position is $45,000-$70,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.

You have the potential to earn more through RBC's discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
