| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The mission of the Continuing Dental Education (
COE) and Area Heatlh Education Centers (
AHEC) division is to support the teaching, lifelong learning, research, and service activities of the School of Dentistry. These activities reinforce the School of Dentistry's four mission areas (teaching, research, patient care and service), as well as link internal and external constituencies to the School of Dentistry. The
COE &
AHEC division links dental professionals and the public with clinical, educational, and informational services provided by the School of Dentistry. The
COE and
AHEC division must continually evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of the constituents it serves. The
UNC Adams School of Dentistry Office of Continuing Dental Education's mission is to improve the knowledge base and advance the practice of dentistry through quality educational activities. By offering activities that feature current research in science and technology, we help dentists and dental team members advance their knowledge and skills, and promote innovations in the field. | Position Summary |
The Conference Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of continuing education programs and activities for the Adams School of Dentistry Office of Continuing Dental Education and
AHEC. This position serves as a key liaison between faculty, regional partners, vendors, and participants to ensure educational programs are delivered successfully and in compliance with University, State, and American Dental Association Continuing Education Recognition Program (
ADA
CERP) guidelines.
Responsibilities include coordinating educational events from planning through completion; assisting with program logistics, scheduling, registration, and communications; supporting the development of promotional materials and budgets; coordinating meeting spaces, vendors, and food and beverage arrangements; and maintaining compliance with applicable continuing education requirements.
This position also collaborates with the nine regional
AHEC offices to coordinate continuing education offerings and assist with securing faculty presenters for in-person and virtual programs throughout North Carolina. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
| Management Preferences |
Direct work experience adult in continuing education and/or higher education. Experience with event and meeting planning. Strong computer skills (including all Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel), and Adobe. Working knowledge of
ADA
CERP standards and procedures, Connect Carolina, Concur, PeopleSoft, and Learning Stream a big plus. |
