Position Summary:

The Operations Team Lead will perform a variety of duties. Some of which will be responsible for providing work direction, policy and procedure compliance and ensure safety to the facility and operators. Training employees and moving employees, under the direction of the supervisor, as needed to support the plant. The Operations Team Lead will also assist with conducting team board meetings.

The Operations Team Lead will report to the area supervisor in the Mt. Juliet Plant

Key Job Responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Assists Supervisor with communicating necessary information to operators in the area of Company policies, procedures and safety as directed
  • Work with supervisor to complete 1st level safety investigation and safety audits
  • Maintains the status report of current projects on the production floor
  • Monitors work in progress to assure the meeting of quality standards
  • Investigate and resolve inventory issues within the department, i.e. kickbacks, scrap
  • Participates in regular production, overtime, quality, safety and inventory meetings as needed
  • Collaborates with supervisor, quality, engineers, programmers and others as necessary to obtain missing specifications, work instructions, or clarify print questions
  • Manage product quality by using specifications and process standard work processes.
  • Verify that all process control parameters were being followed and documented at all times.
  • Monitor and improve departmental and customers' defect rate to ensure team satisfies customer production requirements and product quality standards.
  • Review production requirements and allocates resources under the direction of the supervisor to ensure on-time delivery
  • Responsible for leading 6S activities on the floor
  • Assists in team direction to help them follow production schedules, quality procedures, run sheets, packaging signoffs and MRB process
  • Support and encourage open and regular communication team members on team boards, team production goals, safety and quality related issues
  • Required to support and to possibly facilitate departmental training and cross training needs to support site requirements and needs
  • Uses a wide variety of fixtures, equipment, precision measuring devices and a wide range of hand/power tools
  • Follow and explain how to use written work instructions precisely
  • Assists employees in interpreting prints and/or work instructions
  • Completes necessary paperwork including routers, inspection sheets, scrap reports and non-conformances
  • Work in Oracle to complete detailed tasks supporting the area, monitor for parts/material not being issued, applying labor to work orders, closing work orders, investigating kickbacks, and releasing pick tickets
  • Assist in production and/or set-up of equipment as required
  • Identify and communicating issues affecting production such as tooling, packaging, equipment, safety, etc.
  • Provides feedback regularly to supervisor on employee performance
  • Willingness to rotate between different areas of the plant

Job Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Oracle - Ability to input applied and move transaction data per job routers
  • Know how to access, read, explain and update work instructions
  • Basic print/drawing reading
  • Ability to use necessary measuring tools to ensure conformance
  • Basic math including working with decimal numbers, fractions and ability to use a ruler
  • Intermediate knowledge of Outlook, Teams, Excel and Word
  • Know how to do FAST problem solving and work through viable solutions
  • Basic knowledge of continuous improvement principles
  • ISO policy and how to identify quality issues and escalate
  • Safety advocate with working knowledge of HazCom & use of fire extinguishers
  • Skilled in training others
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with cross-functional teams and work through conflict
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and concepts verbally and written
  • Work a predictable schedule
  • Self-motivated

Experience, Education and Certification Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft office programs (Excel) preferred
  • Minimum 6 months at Destaco or 1 yr. experience in leadership role outside of Destaco
