Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Lead provides work direction, policy and procedure compliance and ensures safety of the facility and operators. They perform a wide variety of duties to set up and operate CNC machines that perform diversified and complex operations involving close tolerances to include the editing of programs as needed. This position reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides instruction and guidance to the Manufacturing Department regarding proper and safe working procedures.
- Monitors work in progress to assure the meeting of quality standards.
- Assists employees in interpreting prints as required.
- Required to facilitate and support all departmental training / cross training needs to support site requirements.
- Provides guidance, training and instruction on set-ups, feeds and speeds, reading programs, etc.
- Communicates necessary information to operators in the area of Company policies, procedures and safety as directed by the Manufacturing Supervisor.
- Provides feedback regularly to the Manufacturing Supervisor on employee performance.
- Ensures that the facility and its contents are safe and secure at all times.
- Monitors and reports any workplace injuries, near misses or potential safety hazards.
- Reviews work orders for parts needed.
- Verifies accuracy of operation sheets and updates as required.
- Works from blueprints.
- Obtains materials needed and verifies materials are in accordance with print specifications.
- Contacts Supervisor, Engineer or Draftsperson as necessary to obtain missing specifications or to clarify print questions.
- Operates machines to perform operations needed to produce parts in accordance with print specifications.
- Maintains watch over operations to assure proper operation of tools and machining.
- Makes programming changes as needed to maintain tolerances.
- Designs and makes new jigs or fixtures as needed.
- Checks parts during operations to determine quality using a variety of precision measuring instrument such as micrometers, calipers, depth micrometers and dial indicators.
- Deburrs parts as necessary.
- Rework parts not within print specifications.
- Operates hoist as necessary to move heavy materials.
- Hand carries, uses cart, or may operate forklifts to move parts to the next operation.
- Maintains equipment to include adjustments, cleaning machine and cooling systems and maintaining lubricant levels.
- Checks tooling and reconditions if necessary.
- Advises Manufacturing Supervisor of the need for new or additional tooling.
- Returns setup sheets, fixtures and special tooling to proper storage location when finished.
- Performs daily cycle counts.
- Oracle - Ability to input applied and move transaction data per job routers
- Attends required Company training.
- Advises supervisor of conduct that may violate rules, policies, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Experience:
- Six to eight years of progressively more responsible experience in CNC machining experience
- Experience as a lead preferred
- Proven ability to provide work direction and lead as well as perform set-up and operation of CNC machines
Education and Certification Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent education or experience
- Vocational training in CNC machining operations or equivalent experience required
