The Division of Transportation Planning & Management (TPM) is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City's streets, supporting the larger goals of economic and social vitality for people living, working and doing business in New York City. The Division's responsibilities include planning, street design, technical analysis, signs, transit development, freight mobility and markings to help provide for the safety of motor vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and cyclists. The Traffic Engineering and Planning unit (TEP), within TPM, is responsible for conducting, reviewing, and approving traffic engineering and transportation planning studies, projects, analyses and methodologies for the Division. The unit's work activities relate to every aspect of traffic/transportation operations and safety analyses from curb cut approvals to area-wide studies. Minimum Qualifications 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and six months of satisfactory full-time experience in research which involves gathering, organizing and analyzing data, and report writing; or Preferred Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, GIS systems, and databases using NYC OpenData and US Census data, as well as knowledge of engineering principles, traffic engineering, transportation planning, and traffic impact studies. Excellent writing and oral presentation skills preferred. Experience in CEQR, SEQRA, and NEPA processes.
