WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
The Tier 2 Supplier Management Program Leader is responsible for designing and executing a proactive supplier risk management strategy beyond direct suppliers (Tier 1), ensuring continuity, resilience, cost competitiveness, and compliance across the extended supply base. This role leads cross-functional efforts to map, monitor, and strengthen Tier 2 supplier networks that are critical to operational performance.
Tier 2 Supply Chain Visibility & Mapping
- Develop and maintain end-to-end visibility of Tier 2 supplier networks for critical commodities and components
- Identify single points of failure, geographic concentration risks, and capacity constraints
- Partner with Tier 1 suppliers to increase transparency and data sharing
- Leverage analytics to monitor performance, identify risks, and guide cost and schedule decisions
Risk Identification & Mitigation
- Establish a structured framework to assess Tier 2 supplier risk (financial, geopolitical, capacity, ESG, compliance)
- Lead risk mitigation strategies, including dual sourcing, localization, and buffering strategies
- Monitor early warning indicators and escalate supply risks proactively
- Data-Driven Decision Making
Supplier Development & Capability Building
- Partner with Tier 1 suppliers to improve Tier 2 supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost)
- Drive targeted improvement initiatives for critical Tier 2 suppliers
- Support long-term capability development and resilience programs
- Oversee supplier performance, accountability, and continuous improvement initiatives
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams
- Integrate Tier 2 considerations into sourcing strategies, NPI, and product design
- Lead cross-functional war rooms during supply disruptions
Program Governance & Execution
- Establish and lead the Tier 2 Supplier Management Program roadmap and governance structure
- Define KPIs, reporting cadence, and executive visibility
- Drive adoption of digital tools and analytics for supplier monitoring
External Collaboration
- Engage with key Tier 1 suppliers to strengthen transparency and accountability
- Represent the company in industry forums or initiatives related to supply chain resilience and compliance
YOU HAVE:
- Bachelor's degree in business or Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in a relatively large supply chain organization is highly preferred.
- Passion for leading and developing people.
- Experience directly managing complex categories.
- Strong negotiation skills including experience negotiating multi-million dollar contracts.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and work comfortably in ambiguity.
- Ability to travel a minimum of 10%.

Pay Transparency
nVent's pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee's work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.
Compensation Range: $123,500.00 - $229,500.00
