Company Profile: Newport News Nuclear BWXT Los Alamos (N3B) manages the 10-year, $2.1 billion Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract for the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Environmental Management, Los Alamos Field Office. N3B brings operational discipline, proven approaches and predictable results to the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract. Position Location: This position is located in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Los Alamos is a tight-knit mountain community that consistently ranks as one of Livability.com's Best Small Towns in America. The city is a top spot for outdoor enthusiasts as it has more than 120 hiking and biking trails, and residents enjoy easy access to the Pajarito Mountain Ski Area. Thanks to the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos' presence in the area, Los Alamos also has a college-town vibe that's a major draw for young professionals, families and retirees. Position Summary: Oversight of CAM/PMs to ensure good planning and management of projects are performed. The Project Manager position involves oversight of the planning, executing and delivery of projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, while also managing resources, stakeholders, and risks. The project manager coordinates all technical activities in an efficient manner to ensure that the project requirements and deadlines are met. Coordinate with other organizations, professionals, field personnel, and subcontractors to accomplish the efficient and smooth implementation of project directives. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree combined with 15 years of related experience. Formal education in Project Management, Project Management Professional (PMP) or other notable project management certification or demonstrated proficiency in Project Management (particularly on government contracts with EVMS requirements) is essential. A combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position's duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable. Education Equivalency: 2 years of relevant experience for 1 year of college. Previous experience working on or managing environmental projects at DOE sites is preferred. Business Associations: Serves as prime consultant and external spokesperson for the organization on highly significant matters relating to policies, programs, capabilities, and long-range goals and objectives. Impact: Decisions affect the financial, employee, or public relations posture of the organization. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in failure to achieve goals critical to the major objectives of the organization. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Physical requirements conducive to a normal office environment. Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the discipline. Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. May spend time in the field gathering data and monitoring environmental conditions firsthand. Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather conditions. This role will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
