THE POSITION

The Department of Conservation & Natural Resources needs a Custodial Worker 1 who enjoys taking pride in clean and well cared for facilities. The work you will do will support thousands of visitors as they explore Caledonia and Mont Alto State Parks. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will support the daily cleanliness and upkeep of park buildings and grounds to ensure a positive experience for all visitors. The work helps maintain safe, attractive, and functional facilities throughout Caledonia and Mont Alto State Parks. As a seasonal Custodial Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Cleaning Tasks: Clean and disinfect restrooms, bathhouses, and park buildings
  • Grounds Care: Pick up litter, maintain camp pads, and remove debris across park areas
  • Maintenance Support: Replace light bulbs, make simple repairs, or report repair needs to maintenance supervisor or lead worker
  • Waste Handling: Empty trash cans, replace bags, and dispose of waste properly
  • Outdoor Upkeep: Mow and trim grass, weed planted areas, and clean sidewalks
  • Visitor Assistance: Provide friendly help and information to park visitors

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Work shifts and days will vary. The employee will work 37.5 hours per week across 5 days, which may include weekends and holidays.

  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
