Job Overview

The Intercompany Planning Supervisor is responsible for leading intercompany production planning activities and personnel within a SAP-driven manufacturing environment. This role oversees planning execution for primarily MaketoStock (MTS) materials, with limited MaketoOrder (MTO) requirements, ensuring internal customer demand is met while balancing inventory targets, capacity constraints, and service levels. The position acts as the primary planning interface between supplying and receiving plants, ensuring consistent SAP master data, accurate planning signals, and effective cross-site coordination.

A Day In The Life

Key Responsibilities:


Team Leadership & Execution



  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of intercompany production planners.
  • Establish daily, weekly, and monthly planning priorities aligned to plant and business objectives.
  • Ensure consistent application of planning standards, SAP transactions, and exception management.
  • Drive accountability for intercompany service performance and inventory outcomes.


Intercompany Production Planning (MTS / MTO)



  • Manage intercompany production and supply planning primarily in a MaketoStock environment while supporting select MaketoOrder materials.
  • Develop and maintain intercompany supply plans to support forecasted demand, safety stock targets, and reorder point strategies.
  • Coordinate production plans with supplying plants to ensure capacity, material availability, and lead times are achievable.
  • Manage MTO materials to ensure customer or project-driven demand is planned, communicated, and executed accurately.


SAP Planning Ownership



  • Execute and oversee intercompany planning activities in SAP, including:


    • MRP execution and exception management
    • Maintenance of intercompany lead times, lot sizes, and planning parameters
    • Review and action SAP planning messages and exception reports


  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of SAP master data related to materials, plants, and intercompany flows.
  • Partner with IT, Master Data, and Supply Chain teams to support SAP enhancements and process improvements.


Cross-Site & Cross-Functional Coordination



  • Serve as the primary planning contact between internal manufacturing sites.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Procurement, Logistics, and Customer Service to align intercompany plans.
  • Facilitate regular intercompany supply reviews to address risks, constraints, and service performance.
  • Support S&OP / IBP processes by providing intercompany supply plans and constraints.


Performance Management & Reporting



  • Monitor and analyze KPIs such as intercompany service level, schedule adherence, inventory turns, excess and obsolete inventory, and plan stability.
  • Identify root causes of service or inventory gaps and lead corrective actions.
  • Communicate risks, constraints, and recovery plans to leadership and internal stakeholders.


Process Improvement & Standardization



  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve planning accuracy, inventory health, and intercompany service levels.
  • Drive standard planning processes across sites, balancing global standards with local execution needs.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and intercompany transfer requirements.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in production planning or supply chain roles within a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of direct supervisory or lead experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with SAP in a production planning or materials planning role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing intercompany or multi-site supply chains.
  • Solid understanding of MTS planning strategies with exposure to MTO materials.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred.
