This position reports to the Manager of Logistics Strategy and Procurement within the Supply Chain Center and affects his/her contribution to Covestro through resolving freight payment issues in a timely manner and through implementing corrective action plans to eliminate systemic freight payment concerns.

This position is characterized by the need for analytical thinking, responsiveness to external service provider concerns and business requirements. Frequent analysis of service provider concerns is necessary along with the timely communication to all parties, development and implementation of corrective action plans to systemic freight payment issues.

Major Tasks & Responsibilities:

* Develop freight payment reports for use in strategic business decisions

* Monitor the contractual agreements between Covestro freight carriers

and third-party service providers

* Serve as a point of contact for freight payment issues within Covestro and represent Covestro to outside transportation suppliers and customers of the freight payment process

* Research and resolve issues raised by the both the Covestro freight payment provider and/or Covestro contracted carriers as appropriate

* Ensure Covestro contracted freight payment service providers are appropriately paying carriers

* Preparation of information to assist management in conflict resolution

* Preparation of documentation for freight payment related business controls

* Participate in root cause analysis projects to implement changes to the process

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a Business related field

Preferred Qualifications:

* 1+ years' experience; OR a minimum 1 year participation in the SCC Trainee program

* Adept at driving category management and continuous improvement with internal stakeholders and suppliers

* Knowledge base of Covestro products, customers and carriers

* Understanding contracts and contract law

Knowledge and Skills:

* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage and communicate with stakeholders at various levels within the organization and with service providers;

* Ability to make decisions independently, identify issues and orchestrate actions to closure;

* Demonstrated analytical skills

* Understanding of transportation operations and the freight payment process

* Working knowledge of SAP and Business Warehouse applications

* Experience in freight payment and Cass Freight payment system

* Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
