Job Summary

The Scale Clerk is responsible for accurately weighing loads, recording transactions, and maintaining clear customer and regulatory records at an aggregate quarry. This role ensures efficient gate operations, reliable reporting, and excellent customer service.

Main Responsibilities
  • Weigh incoming and outgoing trucks using the quarry scales and verify load tickets.
  • Enter weights, product types, customer information, and ticket numbers into the quarry management system.
  • Issue and reconcile load tickets; print and provide copies to drivers and office staff.
  • Collect and process payments, monitor account balances, and coordinate with accounting for invoicing and discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs and prepare regular reports on tonnage, product mix, and scale activity.
  • Communicate with plant and pit operators about incoming loads, product availability, and operational issues.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and weight regulations; report any violations or equipment problems.
  • Provide professional customer service at the gate, directing drivers and answering routine questions.
  • Perform basic scale maintenance checks and coordinate scale calibration or repairs with technicians.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with data entry; familiarity with scale or quarry management software preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and numeracy skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow safety procedures.

Typically requires a bachelor's degree and at least 2-3 years of experience
